Fill in the rest of our itinerary for us!

My wife and I, both 35, will be going to Vegas next week (6/12-6/15) for the first time (just the 2 of us) to celebrate our anniversary (6/14). Other than the 2 shows we've already booked, the only other thing we really had on our list is Hoover Dam. How would you fit that into our itinerary (or would you remove it?), and what else would you add?

Also, what is my best option for getting to-and-from Hoover Dam?

This is what we've booked so far (staying all 3 nights at the Venetian):

6/12 - Arrive in Vegas at 2:30pm. Seeing Phantom of the Opera at 7:00pm

6/13 - Seeing Cirque du Soleil's 'O' at 7:30pm

6/14 -

6/15 - Departing Vegas at 6:30am

Thanks in advance!

I would add dinner in a nice restaurant on your anniversary. That's it. I would even delete the rip to Hoover Dam, but that's up to you.

You have a grand total of 2 full days and parts of 3 nights to see Las Vegas. It won't be enough. Donj't bother to schedule anything else. Just enjoy!

I agree with ktinca. A couple shows is enough to plan in a 3 night trip. Since this is your first trip I would also delete the Hoover Dam.

I would just suggest spending the morning/day just walking around to as many of the big casino/hotels you can. Grab a drink every so often and enjoy. There is plenty to see and do so if you book too much you'll regret it.

I would also omit the Hoover Dam trip. Save it for a return trip.

Maybe before or after seeing O, you could eat a nice dinner (I don't know how early or late you like to eat). That would also be a great opportunity to see the fountains at night.

Since you already have 2 shows planned, I would sort of wing night 3. Don't tie yourself down, just see where the Vegas night takes you!

Are you a clubber? If yes, hit a club and dance the night away. If not, try a lounge for a club-like atmosphere but without the meatheads. Try Mix or Voodoo at the top of MBay and Rio respectively. Tie it in with a nice meal. Both Voodoo and Mix have restaurants or you can try the one at Palms as well for nice views.

Yup, walk the strip and head in to as many places as you can. Of course, the heat may make this somewhat difficult.

Since it is your first time, there is just so much to explore on the strip. If you arrive at 2:30 (if you are even on time), it will probably be around 5 before you are even checked into your room, you grab something eat, and you are at the show.

Since you leave way yearly in the AM on 6/15 (you will be up by 4 AM), you time is much more limited than you might think.

The stimuli of the city will be overwhelming and your brain will be hard pressed to find its direction. Keep the 14th open to have fun since you probably are going to bed early that night. Just go with the flow and enjoy!!!

Off strip acitivities are great- but not on a first trip and certainly not on such a short trip. Eliminate Hoover Dam.

Just popping in and out of the various casinos is going to take a good deal of your time. Each one is unique.

The only things I would definitely suggest- Having a great dinner somewhere. I happen to love Alize- superb food, service, ambience and a view. Also- although I am no longer a buffet person- I do think you should have one meal at a buffet-Wynn is good- because it is such a Vegas thing to do.

Attractions: these are my "must see" ones- Bellagio conservatory and fountains (at night); Eiffel Tower; Ventian ceilings and canals; Mirage volcano; Forum Shops at Caesars Palace (both a mall and attraction).

Seeing that your arrival is in the afternoon and you cannot count 6/15 because you are leaving for the airport around 4:30 a.m. the day you leave, you do not have much time to look around or spend by the pool. Unless you are dying to go to Hoover Dam, that attraction could be scrapped until the next time you go. We have found that some of the tours through the tour companies take a good part of the day. Spend 6/13 and 6/14 during the day to take in the sights of Las Vegas beautiful casinos or relax by the pool or use the spa if and plan a nice anniversary dinner on the 14th.

Look at this website at the attractions of each casino and the reviews and plan what interests you and your wife to fill in your itinerary. There is much to see and experience in this city that you will not see everything no matter what your plans are. It is fun to plan and actually counts as vacation time in my book.

I just scrapped one option of a trip plan for October that would be one day longer than yours and leaving at night for fear that I would not have time to relax. For some reason, Las Vegas vacations fly by and before you know it, you will be on the plane for home so find some time to do the things you absolutely do not want to leave without doing.

Only pieces of advice: Wear comfy shoes for walking and keep hydrated as the Las Vegas heat and lack of humidity sneaks up on you. Have fun and happy anniversary.
