Sorry Vegas guys, I can't agree with what you have said about downtown, I feel that DT is more safer than the strip, sure there are some casino's that are not that glam, but they are fun, food is cheaper, drinks are more plentiful, and the slots are looser. There is nothing wrong with the MSS, its clean and the trip 777 brew pub has great food.

Binions has good food, the Plaza has a fun lounge, there is a great act there Thursday - Sunday,

I have been to Vegas 25 times in my life, the last 15 staying downtown, and I would not stay on the the strip.

Any way that is my 2 cents worth. Have a great trip.

This may be sacrilege LOL but I'd like downtown more if there were more non-gambling nightlife in the casinos. Gold Diggers @ GN is an interesting concept that I hope to check out next month. And I like what's happening on East Fremont with the newish bars and lounges. It would be great if more things like that popped up there.

I certainly respect downtown. It serves its purpose and I do try to spend some time there on every trip. But since I gamble very little, I prefer to stay on or close to the Strip. That said, Viva Fremont Street! :)

it took about 15 trips before i stayed downtown... I loved it. I can't say I'll stay downtwon everytime from now on, but it's good... it's a different kind of vegas stay when you stay downtwon vs the strip/

I think downtown is just different from the strip. It isn't better or worse than the strip- just different. I always urge people to visit when they get the chance to see what it is like. You may hate it or love it but you should experience for yourself rather than take anyone else's opinion about it. If you don't like it- leave and never return.

Well I am glad downtown works for you. My girlfriend and I wandered downtown last trip because her mom wanted some tokens from the silver strike slot machine and the downtown casinos seem to be the last places to have them. Anyways we just stayed for a few hours and I guess it is fine but its not somewhere I would actually stay or spend more then a couple of hours there. The FSE is nice but that gets old quickly. Sure the casinos are smaller but they tend to be smokier IMO. When I was there the crowd was mostly older. It was actually kind of depressing I saw lots of old people sitting on slot machines smoking it looked like they were just waiting to die. It did manage to live up to its redneck reputation in the short time I was there. Some drunk guy in a wife beater was yelling at his wife about something ridiculous but to be fair I have seen equally egregious behavior on the strip.

You arguments about cheap food do nothing for me. When I go on vacation I don't want to eat cheap food. I don't want to stay at a place that is the equivalent to a red roof inn. I have no problem with downtown and I will probably go again next time I am in vegas but I can't handle more then a couple of hours there. That is my 2 cents worth

My first couple of visit downtown were okay; it wasnt until I stayed there (GN, in May) that I realized how much I loved it.

I would have agreed with Millertime81 before that, that FSE CAN get a bit boring. But staying in a room where you can wander right out onto the action; it just made the Strip seem too spread out.

And now, after 14 visits, I feel like I found a new city.

I'll be staying at the Nugget next week. I can't wait! I always liked the party atmosphere downtown.
