The Venetain or Aladdin?

Hi, I have booked the Aladdin for $159/Friday and Saturday night. I am thinking of trying to get the Venetian (5 star) on Priceline for cheaper. I do not want to try to get a 4 star cheaper than that on Priceline b/c you never know what you will get. I am only willing to bid on 5 star b/c you will most likely get the Venetian.

So, for those of you who have been to both, which hotel did you prefer? Any comp upgrades at either?

Thank you in advance. We are headed there on Friday!

That depends on your priorities. The Aladdin has a much better location IMO but the Venetian has nicer rooms/suites and is possibly more romantic. I'd choose Aladdin for shopping and the buffet.

We asked for an upgrade and got it at The Aladdin (was off peak )but beware of possible noise or disruption due to building works but of course it is also cheaper (more $$$ for fun)

I stayed at the Alladin in Feb 2005. I really liked how clean the hotel was. The casino area was small. They had lots of visible security in the casino area. The mall was super expensive but well worth the exercise to walk though it. The exercise was free. It was an indoor mall that made you believe you were outdoors in another place and time. The pools were closed for renovation at the time so I do not know what they are like. The buffet was fantastic. The location put it right in the middle of every other hot spot in town which was great for tired feet. I have never stayed at the venitian but I hear that during the peak season, it is very much over crowded-- but beautiful. If you stay at the alladin, use the valet parking otherwise you have to carry your luggage all the way through the shopping mall to get to the check in desk and that was a mighty long walk for tired folks.

Check out betterbidding.com and see what kinds of wins have been reported lately. I wouldn't count on a better price for a weekend, though.

I stayed at the Aladdin last October on my honeymoon and loved it (they ugraded us) but I would jump at the chance to stay at the Venetian, I say go for it! The Aladdin is going through renovation to become Planet Hollywood anyway.

Stayed at Alladin last May and thought it was a nice hotel but not spectacular. My mum stayed at Venetian last week (we were at Monte Carlo) - she got a great rate from the email subscription offers - $100 per night in a Venezia Tower room which is the newer tower, it has a separate check in area than the rest of the hotel so there were no lines. There is also a separate pool area which looked lovely - although it didn't seem to get much sun as its in the middle of the towers and shaded most of the day.

As for the room/suite - we walked in and it definately had the wow factor! Beautiful bathroom with separate walk in shower cubicle, double sinks, vanity unit and separate toilet room. The bedroom was also gorgeous, with plenty of wardrobe space and large TV, down a couple of steps into the living area which had sofa, two easy chairs, dining table and chairs and another large TV. They had a lovely view of the gardens and pool. They also had a turn down service every night with chocolates on the pillow.

Although we enjoyed Monte Carlo very much, the Venetian was much nicer, I'm sorry we didn't change our reservation.

As for the location - it was fine, right next door to Harrahs, and across the street from Mirage.

I would definately choose this hotel over Alladin.

Stayed at the aladdin 2 years ago, it was beautiful and my first experience of vegas, had a great room over looking the Bellagio and the fountain displays, I thought this was amazing, then I had the chance to stay in the Venetian last year, OH MY GOD!!! It was so much better, the room was huge, the decor i thought was incomparible and the bathroom amazing!!! We did have a lovely view of the strip but this was slightly interrupted by the work going on directly below us! But all in all definitely preferred the Venetian!!
