Unexpected trip-First time to Vegas-HELP!

Got invited to an anniversary party in mid November. We didn't budget for this trip but what the heck-always wanted to go to Vegas! We're staying at the Fitzgerald. The party is at the Venetian. Any tips for a newbie? We have 3 full days and there are four of us. Rent a car? We want to do one day of area sightseeing. We're not gamblers per se but of course must try while there-any particular place to start? Are drinks expensive? Does the Fitz have shows and how much...etc etc. etc. As you can see - any info would be new and interesting to us!!! Thank you..thank you!!

Well, considering you have more than two months to plan, if you keep reading this forum you'll be an expert by the time you leave :)

First tip, stay on the strip and not Downtown.

You should rent a car, it will be cheap if 4 of you pay.

Drinks can be very cheap or very expensive depending on where you have them..

Most of you sightseeing will be on the strip, not much to see downtown except for the light show.

Definitely follow threads that spark your interest on here. You'll get some great ideas and advice.

I would suggest starting with the Fitzgerald's web site. Look at their shows, restaurants, bars, etc and then come to TA for reviews. I know there is a show called Fitz of Laughter but I know nothing about it.

Do you have a compelling reason to stay at Fitzgerald? How did you choose them?

Like everyone else I would recommend you stay on the strip, especially seeing as you will be spending time at Venetian.

Then if you want you can just rent a car for the day you want to spend off-strip. The savings can be used towards the rate at a Strip hotel.

You don't have to stay at an expensive hotel. Harrahs is near Venetian, as is TI.

It is very difficult to answer your post. There are hundreds of restaurants, lounges, bars, shows, attractions-can you narrow it down?

You are staying downtown which is away from most of the things (casinos, shows, attractions) first timers want to see in Vegas-and not near the Venetian(which is on the strip).

Drinks can be free (if you are gambling), cheap or cost an arm and a leg- depending on where you are drinking.

How much you pay for a show depends on what show you want to see- headliners, musicals, comedy, Cirque, magicians, etc. . Some shows are free, some tickets are inexpensive or some cost hundreds per ticket.

Same goes for attractions-free to expensive.

Restaurants- anything from fast food cheap to hundreds of dollars per person for a meal.

You are really going to do some reading on your own , give a rough idea of how much you want to spend on meals, shows, etc. and narrow your search in order for people to give you any helpful advice!

There are not a lot of shows at the downtown properties. There is Gordie Brown at the Golden Nugget, The Rat Pack is Back at the Plaza and a country western show at the Fitz other than that, basically the light show in the evening, gambling, eating and drinking.

The drinks and food are much cheaper downtown than compared to the strip.
