Got to town on the 23rd at about 6:30 pm. Took taxi, through tunnel to Golden Gate Casino. The cost was about $23 with tip. Hubby and I checked into room, which was very clean. The room was small but very nice. I love this hotel because of the old Vegas feel. Pretty much tossed the bags on the bed and ran out the door. DH went with his friend to Las Vegas Club to check in there. Our friend Jim had an offer for 2 free rooms for 3 nights. He put one of the rooms in DH's name. We then went to the Gate casino to start our gaming. As with every casino, the favorite machines were moved or gone. Took a short trip around to find the ones we love. I love the Mermaids Gold and play thet one mostly at the Gate. I started out the night by pulling a $20 out of the purse and played on that until about 3am. Did take a small break at about 11pm to head over to Binions and go to the coffee shop for a nice meal. The guys had the prime rib which was very tasty, I had the steak and eggs. Also perfect for a starving traveler. We then headed back upstairs to play a few slots there. I was still running with the same $20. We then headed back to the Gate to put some more points on the cards. At about 3am we finally called uncle and headed up to bed. I have decided that the new beds at the Gate are the most comfortable around. More to follow.
can't wait for more! love TR's about DT. Will be staying DT for 2nd time in dec at mss. keep it coming
Nice looking forward to the rest of this downtown adventure.
We started out the day at about 6am. We got a little more settled in, showered and headed downstairs for some more slots. I always hit the Starbucks at Goled Nugget to start out my morning while DH usually starts with a Bloody Mary or 2. he sat down to a few of his favorite games as I went back to my mermaids. Our friend Jim finally arose a 9am and met us at the Gate. He had bus tickets to go out to California to spend the night with his 88 year old Uncle Roy. He went to the /Bay Street Diner to eat before he had to catch the bus at 11:30. We saw him off to Califonia. DH and I then went over to Binions to play a few of the slots there. DH was not having the best of luck. I, on the other hand was still playing on the first $20. At about 12:30 we then headed down to Ballys. We were meeting our friends there. The guys were going to play and us girls were headed to the spa for some relaxing facials. Ballys has a special for weekday facials which we took atvantage of. $80 for 50 minute facial. i must say that of all of the different spas I have tried, this was one of the best. I did not want to get off the bed. Relaxation ended when we exited the spa. Hubbies were losing bad!! We then parted ways so they could finish checking in to Excalibur and we could go and get ready for dinner. We again met up at Main Street Station for the steak and scampi. One of the best buffets. We all ate until our seams were about to burst. We had gotten coupons for buy one get one though the B-Connected. This made the meal even better. After eating we hit the slots. I was the only one having any luck. Hit a nice bounus on the Twilight Zone. That put a few Benjamins in the purse. Our friends then wanted to hit Golden Gate. None of us had any luck there. They headed back to the strip and we went back to the Gate. At about 12am we went tot he players club to see if we had enough points for a glass set they were offering. We were a few short but found out they had another special going on. For every 100 points on your card, you got a scratch off ticket. DH ended up with 7 cards. He ended up with $65 in free play, 2 free shrip cocktails and some drawing entries. We then decided it was time for bed. We grabbed a shrimp cocktail to take to the room. After we watched some TV while eating our shrimp, we decided the sun will rise again. More to follow...
Looking forward to the rest of yout tr.
I will have to finish this tomorrow. I just looked at the clock and realized I have to get to my second job. In the morning I have to start my new job. As soon as the whistle blows at 5 o'clock I will be back with the rest of the story which will include fun with Uncle Roy, lost reservations and roll away beds.
Great start. I'm planning to stay at the GG my next trip.
Looking forward to the rest! I guess I'm going to have to get my booty into the Golden Gate this trip!
Love reading this, it's getting me prepared for my trip to downtown next week. I will seek out your mermaid machine at the Gate!
Great start! I have a set of those Golden Gate glasses. If you bought them with your points, I hope none were cracked. The first set they gave me was cracked, so they gave me another set. They also had the scratch tickets there when I went in May. Did you try any of the slushies from the new slushy bar?
