casinomama's TR Oct. 10-15

This was our once a year trip to Vegas, our 6th to be exact...we love going this time of year, because of the nice weather, it was in the 70's and 80's during the day and 60's at night...just perfect.

If our economy is hurting, you would never know it, I never seen so many people --it was packed! you could barely walk.

I'll post as a reply

We flew out of Atlanta on Delta, it was an uneventful flight, with an amazing view of the Grand Canyon on the way, arriving in Vegas around 5:15 pm--after a quick bathroom break, we hurry on the to baggage claim, and there was our suitcases "wow" that was quick!. off to the Taxi line, "What" no line, well maybe 6 people in front of us, told him to Paris, no tunnel please!, it took us forever to get there, traffic was backed up, no one could move, after what seemed like forever, we arrived at our hotel, cost without tip was around $17.00. We checked in at the Diamond Desk, our room #1896 was ready, and nice and clean as usual, with a breath-taking view of the fountains, the strip, pool, and Iffle tower...we love staying here! my only complaint was no coffee pot in room this time, and they put us at the very end of the hall, it was quite a haul, especially after a full day of walking.

We grabbed a sandwich at Nosh's, and hit the slots at Bally's--no wins here, so head back to Paris and played awhile, DH hits $450.00 on a $1.00 Triple 7 machine...things are looking good--but thats where it ends, the next 4 days we played slots at every casino up and down the strip, between Ph and the Mirage, and not one good hit on any of them--nor did we see any hand payed winners the whole 5 days we were there.

Sunday we walked over to the Flamingo and ate Brunch, I have to say it wasn't bad, and the view of the Tropical Gardens was very nice.

After eating we went over to the Mirge and picked up our ticket to see "Love" that night.

We left the Mirage, and go across the street to Harrahs, where we played slots, still no wins here, walked back to Paris and rest up before heading back to Mirage for the 7:00 show--I have to admit, we really didn't know if we would like this type of CDS show or not, but boy were we wrong, it was "Great", we had seats in sec. 306 row bb , we could see everything that was going on...we got our ticket at 40% off, costing around $70 pp including tax and fees...I'm not sure if this special is still good or not, we got this offer on www.smartervegas.com for those of you who might be interested.

Oh! I forgot , we were planning to go to the M&G that afternoon near the MC, but we got so involved in playing slots that we forgot all about the time--sorry about that Law-girl and NY-Gus, maybe next time!

To keep this short, each day we spent most of our time sight-seeing, playing slots, and eating,---we ate most of meals at the buffets, Paris, PH, Harrahs, Flaming, and our favorite the Rio.

We didn't get to do as much as would have liked, because as most of you know, I had a problem with my lower back and hip just 3 weeks before leaving, so it was hard for me to get around at times, but we still had lots of fun, and already looking forward to doing it all again next year.

We are home now, got in around 12:30 this am--our flight in Vegas and Atlanta were delayed to bad weather and fog--needless to say it was a long day!!! Thanks again to all of you for making this another wonderful trip.

Thanks for the TR. I was hoping as I read that your back held out and seems like it was not a problem. In hind site maybe you should have asked to be a little closer to the elevator but you never know until you get to the room.

We have fought seeing a CDS show but have broken down and perchased tickets for 1 week from today. I am hoping I am as pleasantly surprised as you were.

Times sure can fly when playing the slots. Sorry you missed the M&G but I can certainly see how that happens. Happy for your DH win to at least offset some of the losses.

NY-Gus -So sorry I missed the M & G--but yes, those slots kept us busy, and by the way "Happy Birthday", hope you had as much fun in Vegas as we did, and I'll take you up on the drink next time!

Hey, casinomama- I was there almost the exact same dates, (stayed at Harrah's 10/11-10/14) and not only could NOT hit anything on the slots, but didn't see any decent wins anywhere, either. Biggest hit I had was a whopping $69.00 from Glinda at Harrah's. I lost that in no time flat.

MaryL31--We played alot at Harrahs, but just couldn't win much, I finally found one of those WOZ slots, I did win $80 on it, but like you said, I put it right back--I found a slot in the back near the outside doors called "reel-um-in" that was fun to play....we also ate at Flavors the buffet while there, it was very good..

My wife just fell in love with Reel Em In last trip. It didn't matter what we did, it was always back to those machines later.

I had to laugh when you said we played all over the strip---from PH to Mirage. I don't know how to say this, but it's a little longer than that, lol.

LOVE is the perfect CDS show for those of us that aren't cirque fans, glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks for the report.

I will be staying at Harrah's 10/22-29 so I will scout out your Reel-em-in before retiring and hope for the best. I used to win a LOT at Harrah's both slots and VP back in the day but no longer so don't play much there anymore. Don't expect the free rooms to last much longer either but it was good while it lasted for 15 years.
