Some general Vegas Questions - shuttles, flights, casinos etc

Hello all,

well I've got about 6 days to go before I fly to Vegas from Manchester with Delta airlines (connecting in Atlanta). I've been to Vegas many times before, but as always, I have a few questions - that's the great thing about Vegas, there's always something new to do since it's always changing. Anyway, here goes, and thanks in advance for any help with these questions. (apologies in advance for any dumb questions but I'm just trying to get all the info before the trip so I'll be well prepared).

1. It's the first time I've used Delta. Do I need to print any Visas off before flying or does the airline provide these to fill in before landing ? Also does the headphone jack take standard headphones (ie that I use for my MP3 player). Since the flight (delta 65) is the same number when changing planes at Atlanta, would the airline be expected to hold the outgoing Atlanta plane back if the incoming flight into Atlanta was delayed (there's a 2hour 15mins gap between flights).

2. I've read on here that the shuttle no longer exists from Bills to Orleans which is a shame (I believe it now runs from the Tropicana). I've therefore done a bit of research on other shuttles and I wondered if they were worth using (and the casinos worth visiting). I see there are shuttles from Fashion Show Mall to Rampart, Miracle Mile shops to Palace Station ans Caesars shops to Silverton. Any info on these would be great, just really looking for a place preferably with some low minimums, cheap beer and a decent buffet.

3. I've been reading the reviews on here for the new City Centre. I'll certainly be checking it out. A few years back I got the tram from Bellagio to Monte Carlo which was really useful so I'll be using that again now that its back on. I recall the Bellagio side was a bit difficult to get to, but the Monte Carlo stop was superb for just getting off and going straight into the Brew Pub. I've checked the MC website and seen the Zowie Bowie plays on Fridays and Saturdays. Has anyone been to this, is it cover songs and the like ? Do you still need to eat to get a seat and do you need to get there early ? (I see the show starts at 11pm.

4. I see that the Rockstar Karaoke (which used to be at Mandalay Bay) is now at South Point. I was wondering how much this would be in a cab from, say, Mandalay Bay ?

5. I was looking at possibly booking for the Human Nature show at the Imperial Palace. I was wondering, has this been a successful show and do the tickets appear at the 2-4-1 booths ?

I'm sure I've got more questions but those are the ones that sprang immediately to mind. Any help is greatly appreciated....

Can't help with all of them, but I have some good news: The shuttle to Orleans and Gold Coast is stopping at Bill's again. The route to Tropicana wasn't popular so Boyd's changed it back.

Human Nature seems to be popular amongst those in the know, but it is usually available at the discount booths at 1/2 price. If you want to purchase tickets in advance goldstar.com also has them at 1/2 price.

When you say "print off any visas" what do you mean? If you require a visa to enter the US you should have applied for one by now and have it in your passport. The airline will provide you with either form I-94 (if you have a visa) or I-94W (if you're entering the US under the Visa Waiver Program) as well as a US Customs form. If you're traveling under the Visa Waiver Program you require an ESTA. Apply now (free) if you've not done this already.

M Bay to Southpoint will cost in the area of $18 to $20

10 minutes / 5.95 miles

When you enter a taxicab, the driver will start the taximeter and an initial charge of $3.30 will register.

Each additional 1/12th mile ($2.40 per mile) $.20

thanks for the prompt replies fellas....

It's great news that the shuttle is back at Bills, must've missed that information when looking around the forum. Nice to just hop on a shuttle outside Bills and go for breakfast at Gold Coast or Orleans - both of which are superb value IMO.

Also interesting about the other shuttles to Red Rock, M Resort etc. I think I'd like to try those also, just a little bit paranoid about getting stuck there if for example, the last shuttle back was full and/or priority was given to hotel guests !

Blagger - thanks for the prompt, I'd completely forgot that I'd filled in the ESTA online before my last trip. I've googled it and it lasts for 2 years. Unfortunately, you're supposed to update it on each trip with flight and hotel details, but I've lost the number I was given so I guess I might need to register again - I'll dig out the passports when I get home just to check if I had the nous to leave the number with the passports (but I doubt it !!). BTW it's the I-94W form I was thinking of - I think that's the green form that you just fill that in on the plane.

thanks again....

Ok, managed to find the ESTA numbers so have now been online and updated them with details of this trip.

Any more help on any of the questions in the first post would be greatly appreciated. (I also assume the outside bar, just outside the flamingo is closed for the Winter now ?). Users to enjoy a Miller Chill sat outside there on my last visit, I guess it's too cold now for it to be worth opening...

I'll also add that you shouldn't plan on seeing Zowie Bowie live. The main couple has ended their romantic relationship, and it has been unclear as to whether the musical act will continue.

I've heard that the female lead (Marley Taylor) didn't show up for the most recent show.

I used the Bill's/Gold Coast/Orelans shuttle a few times last week -I had to share my car :-( . It makes a loop and there are two buses running so it didn't take more than 1/2 hour from the GC to Bill's- including the time waiting.

Another poster asked about the Hard Rock shuttle last night. I called- the shuttle is no longer available.

I liked the Sam's Town shuttle- it was realiable, on time and ST has the very best Christmasy feeling/display of all the casinos-at night.

The tram is at the very back of the Bellagio- great if you are already there, but maybe not so great if you aren't. I only used it to get to Crystals- but I walked back and walked to CC a few days later. It leaves you off at the upper level of Crystals. I didn't take it to MC. It does have an electric sign that tells you when the next tram will arrive. If you do use it at the Bellagio- look for the Vdara hallway nearby. See that first (if you are planning to see the Vdara) and then take the tram.

as for your Delta Questions....

Both times I flew Delta back from out of the country, they provided all paperwork necessary for customs. A standard headphone jack should also work for you. Also, it's up to Delta if they hold the plane. Atlanta is the busiest airport we have, so it probally depends on traffic.

thanks again for the help so far.

Interesting the Zowie Bowie and his partner have split, I don't think their show's been running too long ! I saw a clip on youtube from a few months back saying how they were so pleased to get a gig on the strip !

vp03- thanks for the shuttle info. Agree about Sams Town, it's got a really nice feel to it and it's no hassle to get to the shuttle pickup at Harrahs from Bills where I'm staying.

Favre- thanks for the Delta info, just gotta hope the weather doesn't disrupt things too much. It's been icy and snowy in the UK for the last few days but the forecast seems to show some improvement.

thanks again to all.....
