Good but cheap places to eat/drink nearby

Hi,

We will be staying at The AAE Casino Hotel Wild West Las Vegas and would like to know of any good places to eat/drink nearby?

Also if there is anything good nearby that we should not miss, please let me know.

Thanks so much :)

Please don't take this the wrong way. Wild, Wild West is not a good option. Check out the reviews here on TA. It's a dive and it is located on the other side of a major freeway from the strip.

You don't want to stay there. It's really not a good option. The place is basically a truck stop motel on a freeway off ramp. There are many low priced hotels on the strip or just off it that are better places to stay.

If you are visiting with friends, you could stay at a nicer place like the Imperial Palace, Hooters or Excalibur for very little more money. Better off-strip hotels would include Orleans and Gold Coast. I would also recommend checking out the Plaza downtown. It's not as nice as the other options I listed, but it is very inexpensive for a reasonable room.

As Hyper said your choice of hotel isn't great. Poor hotel in bad location. How the heck did you come to the decision to stay there? I'm guessing it's very likely your first time in Vegas. Do everything in your power to cancel your reservation. Tell us your dates and how much you're happy to spend per night on a room and you'll get some good recommendations of where will work for you a lot better.

Hi we are staying for a week from 13th July to 20th July. We are on a round the world trip and were looking on hostel sites and this looked the best on the hostel sites we had at the cheapest price. Thanks for letting me know and yes it is my first time in Vegas and really we are just looking for the cheapest hotel we can get near the strip we were paying about $25 per person here that includes all taxes etc. but if you could let us know of any you know nearby that are cheap but okay that would be great. The reviews I read said the place was okay but I'm glad there are people like you to let people know the truth. Again thans so much for your help :)

I have not heard of this hotel and I think i would do as other posters say and book elsewhere I think you would be better on the strip. Can I ask why you cose this hotel, maybe its near something of interest? Let us know what your budget is and im sure even circus circus is better than this place and at least its near attractions.

adelle is you go to www.smartervegas.com you will get a list of hotels and promotions you may find tropicana or excallibur cheap they may be a bit more but you can get buffets included and you are right on the strip. The ammount you will spend on gas or taxis getting around will outweigh any savings made by staying at the hostel. Stay on the strip or even downtown would be an option you have loads to do there and get a real feel of vegas.

Yes smartervegas.com is your best bet but it's too early for most July deals. Start to take a look in late April or early May.

Adelle,,, stay at the Orleans,, its just up the road from the Wild West and is way way better option,, I looked at your dates and you can stay there for about 290 bucks for 2 people. They have a shuttle service to the strip. The Wild West is not walkable to anywhere in the heat of July. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with the other posters. Even if you can't stay on the strip- try the Orleans or the Gold Coast. They are both off strip but they do have a shuttle that will leave you center strip. I looked at the Gold Coast web site, but they don't have their July calendar up yet. Their June rates show $34/39 a night (Sun-Thur) . It is not a fancy hotel, but it is very clean, very safe and it does have a great staff-and it is way, way better than Wild West.

If you are locked into those dates, you can book a deluxe room at the Imperial Palace for $330 plus tax, July 13-20. This works out to less than $25 per person per night. A capri room is even less.

Even if the taxes bring it over $350, you will save money in transportation costs because the IP, while definitely not truly de luxe, is in a great location. As has also been said, sales may come up and you may find a better rate closer to your travel date.
