Cab vs. Shuttle vs. Rental Car

I am looking for advice on transportation from the airport to our hotel - the Mirage. I've done all three, with the last couple of visits using a rental car because we had a small group and planned on doing some off Vegas traveling. In my experience, the cab would be the way to go since it takes you directly to your hotel whereas the shuttle would have to make many stops to hotels. I also seem to remember that the cab price was fairly comparable in price to a shuttle ride but as I said, it's been quite a few years since I've last used a shuttle or cab so I wanted to know if my thoughts were up to date. For this trip it will just be me and my hubby, staying at the Mirage, and we pretty much plan on staying in the Mirage area. Therefore, I was thinking a would be the way to go but I wanted to hear other's opinions who have been to Vegas recently.

Rental Car - not worth the hassle

Shuttle - not sure if it goes to the Mirage, but if so you probably have to stop at several hotels.

For two or more people take a cab.

The shuttles will be slightly less expensive for 2, but the cab will be far more convenient.

Just remember to say "no tunnel"!

Definitely take a cab if you don't plan on leaving the strip. It probably wouldn't be much more than a shuttle for the two of you.

With the shuttle you may end up stuck at the airport for a while, waiting for more passengers to get on before leaving and then you may get a tour of the back of other hotels as others are dropped off first. Many people want to get to their hotels as quickly as possible so they can start their vacation. The cab line may seem long, but it moves quickly.

Took the Showtime Shuttle last month to Treasure Island. Four stops on the way, none on the return. It was included in our package. It was great going to the hotel; however a cab would have been more convenient for the return trip; less waiting time for the pick up and you probably wouldn't have to leave as early.

took a cab from airport to harrah's which is pretty much across the street from mirage. cost $22 including the $3 service fee for paying by credit card.

the shuttles are $6.50 or $7 per person to strip hotel.

there are tons of great rental cars which make it easier to get around while you're there (self park & valet are free - of course tips for valet - everywhere), and you can hit places off strip if you want, while avoiding the sometimes silly cab lines. but you can't drive if you're doing any gambling aka 'free' drinking or clubbing.

personally - staying at mirage with 2 or more people i would cab for convenience.

If you're staying around the Strip all the time, there's not much need for a Rental. Airport shuttles are fine, I don't care but if you're talking about the Shuttles to the various Casinos, I don't like to depend on them, too infrequent and sometimes too crowded and you might have to wait for the next one. One reason I've grown to hate the Deuce bus.

If you venture Off-Strip, a Rental's a Must. You can eat at Buffets at the Orleans, South Point, Sam's Town, Palace Station, Terribles and more for much less than the Strip places. I've gotten to be in the Habit of eating Breakfast for $7 and change. Dinners are Cheaper too!

Parking? Tip the Valet Kids a Fiver and don't sweat it. Very Convenient!

LV is much smaller and easier to get around than where I'm from back home, I have no problems getting anywhere I want to go now.

I bookmarked this page for reference. Might be handy for others regarding fares from airport to destinations:

It's from the authority so it should be accurate.

Cab to Mirage runs a little over $15 so it's just about a wash compared to shuttle and you'll get there faster.
