Are there taxi companies that take credit cards?

It is my preference to use my company issued credit card instead of using cash, submitting an expense report and waiting 30 days. Are there any taxi companies that take credit cards? It has been a few years since my last trade show in Las Vegas and I can't recall any taxi companies at that time that took plastic. Thanks.

I would think they all take credit cards, but I don't actually know. The taxis here in Vancouver all do.

I know at least 1 of the 4 we were in had a CC machine in it. I can't remember the others. I'm sure you could ask for a cab with one though, you might have to wait longer though.

There are some that do. We had one cab radio in to find one that took credit cards once.

I've come to expect credit cards in taxis all over the country, but can't recall ever seeing one in Las Vegas. The Taxi Authority has this in bold red print on their site:

"MOST TAXICABS IN SOUTHERN NEVADA DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS AS PAYMENT..."

During my last trip in late Jan. I stayed at the Rio and took 4-5 cab rides. I paid for every one with a credit/debit card.

Thanks WrldTrvlr for posting that you don't really know. That was really helpful. the Taxi's in Vancouver have nothing to do with Vegas.

There is only one cab co. in that serves the Las Vegas Strip which accepts credit cards in all its cabs. Desert Cab. There is another co. which started to roll it out in some of its cabs but stopped the implementation.

I strongly reccommend you carry some extra cash for cab rides because it can be a long wait sometimes to get one of the few credit card cabs. Especially after the nightclubs let out at night or early in the morning during the cabdrivers shift change. Also if you are heading to the airport the morning after a convention there will be lot's of business people wanting to do the same thing.

Also think about getting some small bills because cab drivers are becomming reluctant to change 100's due to rumor (don't know if its ture or not) about counterfit bills being passed to drivers and valets.

not all of them do. I had to stop once with the taxi at the ATM to take money out. If they do take credit card they charge $3 srvice charge. was there April 2010.

You can't hail a cab on the street, so I assume you cannot call for one to pick you up at a given location. The point I'm getting to is the cabs line up in turn at the casino/hotel properties to pick up fares. If you are in line and the cab that pulls up for your turn doesn't have cc capabilities, you'll have to step aside until one that does shows up. Who knows, there may not be one servicing the area where you are. I'd be prepared to pay cash, but hope I luck out and get a cab that can accommodate me.
