March madness is March sadness for slot players

I arrived in Vegas Saturday evening and the slots were full of players (at the Hilton) yet, the machines were tight as ever.

Sunday, I visited several casinos and they wer tight as well and I'm a penny slot player. I've never played penny slots this tight - what's the problem? A local told me that they've lost a lot on March madness payouts - oh well; play with caution. I'm still here and had to write this post to warn others. Several people that I've spoken with agrees with me. If you've had a different experience, please share your success stories.

Im sure if someone has won, then the slots are not tight. The fact of the matter is that slots are losers for players and winners for the casinos. That is why (one of the reasons, boredom being the other) I dont play slots.

We were just there March 17-24th and the slots were incredibly tight every where we went (Bally's, MGM, Caesar's, Bill's, Flamingo). No, you can't expect to come out ahead playing the slots but usually you can play for a while and have a little fun.

Do you really think they adjust the payouts for certain weekends? I suppose that is possible but it would really surprise me. I suspect this is more a matter of having a bad run of luck than any adjustment to the machines by the casino.

I was in LV 3/14 - 3/19 and have to say that I came home with more money than on any other trip to Vegas. From trip reports that I've been reading from that week, I must have been one of only a few that actually won that week, lol. I primarily play penny slots with a budget of $300 to $400/day. I had 3 separate hits of $500+ during the week and several other hits of $200+. The big wins were at the Palazzo and Paris. I play the slots for entertainment so coming home with $2K+ was very nice! Will that trip be repeated?! I doubt it :)

Vegas is for me:

I didn't make it to my favorite place for penny slots - The Palazzo; will go tomorrow and hopefully I will win something or even play for a while on my usual $20. It seems as if it's going much faster than ususal.

For others: I'm not saying that I must win every trip. However, when $20 on penny slots goes within minutes, that's a problem for me when you're not playing max or even $1. I'm talking about .30 to .60 cents.

They cannot change payouts on the fly. And the most recent numbers on casino hold suggests things are loosening up. With all the busted brackets, what are March Madness bettors even winning on?

The new games are tighter than the one they replaced but I have had good luck on my most recent trips sticking to older games and playing away from the strip. Stay away from WOZ, Time Machine, Goldfish2 and all the hot new games and play stuff you have won on in the past.

With the new server based slots like they have at Aria, they can supposedly change payouts without going through the Gaming Commission but there are still alot of rules to be followed and those rules would make it difficult to change the paybacks on every slot for a weekend just to switch them back.

Two points here.

Firstly the suggestion that slots are made tighter for specific busy weekends is laughable. You, along with the majority of other slot players, were just unlucky.

Secondly why are you wasting valuble Vegas time on the computer? Go have some fun!

I was in vegas on a monday and did not win anything. Must be that they tighten up the slots on Mondays. Or I just didn't win anything. I prefer to believe the first option.

the only slot that they can change the payouts on quickly are the server based slots JUST SAY NO TO SERVER BASED SLOTS!!!
