1. Re: Vegas Virgin TR

I’ll start off by saying it was myself (24) my husband H (26) my mom M and my dad D.

Day 1:

I’d been packing for days…okay maybe more like a week in advance. I have a very type A personality and was frantic I was going to forget something important. (Like they don’t have any stores in Vegas LOL) The night before we stayed at my M & D’s since we had a super early flight. I tried to sleep but was unsuccessful….alarm sounds at 3:50am, I get up get ready, we all jump in the truck and were on our way to the airport at 5am. This is my first plane ride ever, same for H. My M has flown plenty of times, and D flies 3-4 times a week for work so this was nothing new for them. I was nervous because I get motion sickness easy but since I ride rollercoasters just fine D swears I don’t need any Dramamine. So I say okay I’ll be fine. Load in the first plane, small but not smothering, 1 hr to Memphis. Did fine was a little nervous but all in all okay. Looking out the window was not good for me so I only glanced now and then.

Second flight….the doozie. Load on Memphis to Vegas 3hr 9min flight. Absolutely horrible. We were passing over lots of storms and had turbulence what felt like the whole time…by the time they came on and 30 min I was white as a ghost and about to have to use the paper bag in front. The flight was packed and I started to get really upset because I didn’t want to be the girl who throws up everywhere on the plane. (I’m definitely not the type that likes to be the center of attention!!) I put my sunglasses on to try to hide the fact I’m about to not only toss my cookies but burst out in tears too. We land I get the crap off the plane and head straight for the outdoors I need to smoke like NOW.

Once I smoked I felt better LOL, we pick up the bags, M hits $250 on 50cent bet on an airport machine, and we get in line for a taxi. Hop in tell him IP, no tunnel….he acted peeved about that but whatever our ride our rules. He drives like a psycho….weaving in and out of people, cutting people off, the taxi was becoming worse than the plane ride. We made it just fine thankfully!

IP: First the room, deluxe room tower 5. Clean, no frills obviously but we knew this going in on the cheap. I’m a hotel phobe so I checked the sheets, blankets, mattress, and in between mattress and box spring, no sign of bugs, stains (ewww), anything that would make me want to move hotels or rooms. Room faced Flamingo, then down below was top of a building and air conditioning maybe?? I only went on the balcony once because it was covered in pigeon you know what and was so small I didn’t want to fall off. But it was clean so that was good enough for me. Had no issues with sinks/shower drainage. The toilet however worked fine but when it was flushed it was so violent you would have thought it was trying to flush a small child down. The casino/hotel was a little run down too.

We throw stuff in the room and we wander around IP, put some money in a few machines ( I was trying to play slots that we did not have at our close casino). No luck on winning but had fun. We were starving so we decided to eat the Burger Palace in IP. Food was less than mediocre but filled the tummy and was a one time visit for sure. D starts drinking and playing three card poker, M is at the slots, H and I decide we are going to walk to a couple others….we head next door to Flamingo, then Bill’s, then into O’Sheas…all neat, played various slots no winnings though. I was exhausted so we took a nap, got up around 8pm and went out and about again. H and I do not drink very often at all and in fact I had one screwdriver the whole trip….D however was sloppy drunk by now. D tries to go to Rockhouse but he had a sleeveless shirt on and they wouldn’t let him in. So he goes and changes clothes …heads over there. H and I are walking around over to Harrah’s and CC and he isn’t talking, I’m tired and still sick at my stomach from before….We go back to the hotel room and I just start crying. I’ve been here 12 hrs and I want to go home already! At midnight I’m ready to eat I’m starving once again, so Hash House it is. Had pancake flapjack whatever…sooooo good! Made my night so much better! We decide we have had to much excitement for the day and sleep is what I really needed.

Day 2:

H and I woke up around 6:45am, from my phone ringing…M is calling, apparently D never made it back to the room. She is upset freaking out, I tell her the worst that could have happened is he got arrested and is sleeping his drunk off. Now looking back my joke really wasn’t funny to her, she was genuinely worried and I knew he was fine just missing. She begs us to go looking so I return to my room, H and I get ready to go find him. And just as the hunt begins, she calls, he has walked in, still drunk, passes out cold on the bed. (I have to say the reason M was so worried is he has kidney problems and shouldn’t be drinking in excess)

We decided to get up and get our day started. We headed past Harrah’s just looking to see some cool stuff and take pictures. We went into the Venetian ( by far my favorite on the strip). Took pictures, walked through the shops, and of course watched the living statues. That was neat, until a kid wanted a picture so the mom gave him some money he put it down jumped up there to take a picture with her and she smiled, and then she looked creepy. Lol Played a couple machines, won maybe $30 on a Monopoly machine (love em’) and we were on our way. Crossed over, went into Mirage, took some pictures of TI pirate ships and stuff. Looked at my phone, we had been exploring for 2 hrs already….time to eat.

Stripburger: Oh my, awesome food. H had the smokehouse burger, I had the chicken sandwich with bacon BBQ sauce, shared some cheese fries. Good but didn’t eat half of it. The service there was amazing. Our waiter was so friendly, liked to have a conversation, all around an awesome meal.

Walked around Fashion Show Mall, over to City Center, had a pink lemonade slushie thingy at the Pods (I think that is what its called?). Really good, although we said no alcohol, I think maybe they used the same machine for maybe an alcohol batch prior it tasted a little like rum to me, but nonetheless still good. It was now late afternoon and the streets were starting to get busy. We went and played at CP for a long time until well after dark…then back to IP. Played there for a while, it was late, we ate pizza palace, not bad but not good either. Played some more went to bed.

Day 3:

We got up, walked down to the Venetian to go to the wax museum. This was one of my favorite parts of the trip!! It was so neat, and with a $10 off two passes, for $40 it was worth it to me. We did not go through the scary part though. After the wax museum we wanted to head up toward the Stratosphere so we took a cab. Mind you this is my 2nd time in a cab in my life, the 1st one already scared me half to death so I was hoping this one would be better. It was worse. He honked constantly which annoyed me to no end. Is there a reason for this?? I don’t know. He wasn’t honking at people crossing or cars cutting him off, just like random honking. We were 3 ft from rear ending someone since he was busy staring and then yelling at the women walking on the sidewalk in their short skirts and stilettos. Once we get there and pay, we walk around, played a few machines…..checked out some roulette. I’m falling in love with the Gold Fish game, and Reel Em’ In with the group bonus….new favorite game!

Started walking back down the strip, had intentions on making it to CC but I started to get nervous since we were being followed. We stopped at the intersection and he started yelling but I just kept my eyes in front and kept walking. I saw a lot more “bums” up that way than more on the center of the strip…which I thought was odd but I guess they all have their spots they like. We crossed over into Sahara and ate at the NASCAR café. Very good. Saw 4 people try to down their Man V. Food 6lb burrito…no success. But it was funny watching them all try to eat it. I had the baby version of the burrito, it was good, a little bland but it’s the NASCAR café how much can you expect?? Played a few machines, then decided to catch the monorail back. I have to say this is my favorite form of transportation while we were there. Not congested, definitely cheaper than cabbing it everywhere, and pretty quick.

We met up with M & D and went down to Bally’s and Paris. On the way there were people dressed up as different characters, give them a tip, take a picture…well there was Rick James…a woman kept taking his picture but wouldn’t tip so he yells “I’m Rick James B____h, pictures are for tips” I laughed so hard I was in tears. Maybe it was one of those things where you just had to be there. lol We played slots for a long time, D played Three Card Poker. M & D were tired so they were walking back to IP. H and I walked to Serendipity and split a Sundae. I can’t remember what it was called but it was the best $17 sundae I’ve ever ate!!! H and I couldn’t even eat it all. By this time it was night time and we decided to go up on the Eiffel Tower to see the view at night. That was awesome. The fountain show at the Bellagio happen to be going off when we were up there and it was really neat to see it from that high up. Gambled some more in Paris before walking back to IP.

We saw a homeless man with the most interesting sign….he was sitting there on one of the walkways above the street that said “Why Lie, I need a beer”. And as sad and horrible that is, at least he is honest. He had a beer in his hand, so someone helped him out with his need/want/request. We also seen another homeless person sitting on the bridge, but she didn’t even look like an adult. I feel really bad, and H is harsh and says they probably do drugs, drink, etc but I feel bad since you never know why or how someone ended up there. Anyway once we were back at IP, we people watched. Now I have to say this was one of the more interesting parts of the day. We saw a girl dressed with very little fabric, in which I thought was a tourist, but only after watching realized that this was a hooker….she tried to pick up several drunk men, even rubbing their bellies before they pushed her away….she walked past us and walking behind her was an elderly couple. At least in their 70’s…the older woman was going “ohhhh that’s a hooker honey look” repeating that over and over….it was really funny. Then we walked over to Harrah’s and was playing slots right by the CC exit and there was an older couple fighting. Poor old man, she was giving him down the road….he walked away when she called him a piece of ____. Reminded me of Betty White hahahahha.

Enough excitement for the day, off to bed.
