TR Spring Break in Vegas

Well we stayed at the Wynn and it was very nice. The guy next to me won the progressive and is now $1.1 million dollars richer. It was a little noisy on the strip side on the Thursday / Firday when the clubs were open I will defiantly get a golf course side room next time. The buffet at the Wynn was the worst I have tried in Vegas the only consulation was it was free with a comp for playing at the casino. We tried Rosemary's off the strip for dinner and I have to say it is the best dinner I have ever had out anywhere in the world. The Hash House a gogo off strip was also worth two trips - the Fried Chicken Benny is the stuff of legends. Enjoyed Zumanity at NY,NY, Menopause the musical at the Luxor and Barry Manilow at Paris. Rented a car and did lots of shopping off the strip. Only got one day at the pool that closed really early but overall an excellent break.

What made the wynn buffet so bad? Last time I went it was superb and most others would agree as buffets go it's one of the best so I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

I agree that I would like to know what was so bad, especially since I agree that Rosemary's is great (wouldn't take it to my all time favorite but certainly one we continue to visit each trip.)

Thanks for the TR. Sorry to hear you were disappointed with the Wynn buffet. I think it's the best one on the strip, but everyone has different tastes of course. Glad you had a nice trip!

Well, I don't think you need to RUDELY ask for a golf course view next time :)

I also would like to know what you didn't like about the Wynn buffet (what meal did you go for?)

You sure went to a lot of shows - what did you think of them?

All the shows were really well done. Zumanity was a different side of Cirque but be aware it is an adult show. Manilow was the ultimate Vegas style show and Menopause the Musical was good for some giggles. Zumanity and Menopause were both purchased with discount tickets I think I got them both off of Vegas.com but I saw them on other sites as well so don't pay full price.

The Wynn Buffet - now let me start by saying that neither my wife nor I are sea food people and if we were then the seafood station might have brought up the caliber of the buffet. Since we are not seafood people we focused on the other selections. Now we consider ourselves foodies and eat out quite a bit. I have worked as a personal chef so I have some background on quality. We attended on a Thursday night. The food was not hot and at times took way too long to refill empty dishes. The odd dish was good - Tandori Salmon and Osso Buco but overall not the quality I would expect for the price. We thought maybe they would make up for it with some killer designer desserts. We expected them to be visually stunning and decadent but they were ordinary and mediocre. It was ok for a buffet if I had spent $10-$15 but at almost $40 it was not worth it and did not reflect the atmosphere of the hotel which is high end.

We did walk throu the new Aria and they are certainly giving the Wynn a run for the high end feeling Hotel of the strip. Once they ar up and running we'll have to see.

Good TR. Lucky guy winning $1.1 mil. I'll be glad to just take some of my original money home.
