Power outage on 5/4 at Bill's

Did anyone else get a call from either Bill's or Flamingo about a power outage on 5/4? We have been booked with Bill's for about a month to stay 5/2 - 5/5, we just got a call today telling us that we will have to move to either Flamingo or Harrah's because there is going to be a power outage on 5/4. We can either stay at Bill's for two days and them move for the last night or they will move us for all 3 days at the same price that we reserved Bill's for. I called back a few minutes later and told her that we would stay at the Flamingo for all three days. She then told me that they just found out that the Flamingo may have some of their towers without power also and that I will have to stay at Harrah's or they will give us our money back on our original reservation and we can rebook elsewhere.

I really am not all that excited to stay at Harrah's, I know it is not that much further down the road but I really like the location of Bill's. We stayed at the Flamingo a couple of years ago and really liked the location.

Has anyone ever had something like this happen to them?

Did they say how long the outage would be for? This sounds major, especially involving 2 properties.

Tell them you'll move to Caesars for all your nights :)

The outage will be for approx 4 to 5 hours, most likely starting at 1:00am. By law, they have to close the hotel because they can't stay open without power. The casino will remain opened. I wasn't aware that the Flamingo may be without power as well though.

They told me it was going to be all day on Tuesday the 4th. I don't know if it will be back on again at night or not. It is due to the construction on the road that runs between Bill's and the Flamingo.

I was already told the Ceasar's was not going to happen :).

I talked with the manager a few minutes ago and she said they are still trying to figure out where they are putting people. She did offer an upgrade if we stay at Bill's for our first two nights and then move for the last night. I'm just not sure if I want to move on our last day there. Maybe if they can get us checked in easily so we don't have to wait in an hour long line. I don't know what is going to happen at this point. I am supposed to call again in the morning to see what they are going to do with us.

It's part of the project to relocate the big power line along Flamingo underground.

We are booked at Bill's too...from May 2-7. I haven't heard from them directly yet...just saw this post for the first time. I didn't book them directly, but through Expedia. Will that affect anything with our plans, I am wondering.

Anyone who has more info, please keep up updated here. In the meantime, I will be giving them a call too.

I would call Expedia.... At least you get piece of mind on how it could effect your stay....

I was scheduled to stay at Harrah's a couple of years ago when they had problems with the permits for their upgrades. They didn't let us know in advance. We showed up and they sent us to Bally's to check in. It worked out good for us as there were six of us and they gave us $300 in food vouchers for our trouble.

Expedia was great. They offered us a room at MGM instead of Bill's. This is little further south on the strip than I wanted to be. But I think overall we are coming out ahead.

So am I a winner in this deal?

"The casino will remain opened."

Wow, who would have thought.. :) You'd know it's really serious if they're closing the casino!

anwblack- that is great to hear. Expedia sounds like they took care of it nicely. You'd love MGM, their pool is awesome. Sure it's little further down the strip, but it is a nicer property. Funny how they moved you from HET property to MGM/Mirage property. I guess it doesn't matter as far as Expedia is concerned.
