Hoover Dam Tour

Can anyone suggest a reliable tour company or I should book it at the hotel? will it be cheaper to book online or at the hotel? Thanks.

If I were you, I'd just rent a car for the day. It's an easy short drive to the dam with plenty of time to check out other places like Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, Laughlin or some of the outlying casinos.

I concur with the 3 dogged one :) Driving will be cheaper than any tour to the Dam and you could combine it with visits to other attractions too :)

I was the same about the tours as well but all the regulars on here made it pretty convincing to rent and drive yourself, which now i can not wait to do. By the way is there lots of signage to both hoover dam and Grand canyon as well. Ive rented a car but it wont have gps option.

I would also recommend skipping booking a dam tour and just drive out to the dam parking lot to see the dam views from there. I think that is what most dam visitors do.

I just drove myself. I went on the extended tour. It was well worth the money as we only had about 10-15 people of the tour and got to ask plenty of questions.

fatjeesus,

mapquest your route to the dam (Boulder City, NV) & the Grand Canyon National Park. You won't have any problems.

There's plenty to see at the dam even if you don't take a tour. I do highly recommend the $30.00 tour, just be aware, you're inside the dam in small tunnels - not for the claustrophobic - you also get to walk over a grated shaft 100 feet straight down - fun, interesting and educational.

Make sure you rub the toes of the bronze statues - the Winged Figures of the Republic for luck - worked for us!

We did take the tour last year it was nice also went out on the boat on leak mead good times. However if you just wanted to see the dam i am sure it would be better to rent and drive then you too will be Dam people.......lol

I also recommend the extended tour, the "yellow hard hat" one. It was cool.
