TR Encore May 13th - 18th!

This will be my 1st stab at a TR after my 8th visit. Also this will be our 2nd time staying at Encore. We (Wife 34, Sister-in-law 28 and my best friend 30) left Pittsburgh on Thursday morning via Southwest. We booked two packages through SWV for $1086 per couple. This was an absolute steal in my opinion for 5 nights and flights. The flight was uneventful and I was able to catch a few zzzz's for once on the outbound flight. Usually I'm so hyped up that I don't sleep one wink.

We arrived at McCarren and were promptly greated by Cody our driver from Presidential. I decided on Presidental due to all of the positive feedback I received here on TA. The ladies enjoyed the champagne while we made a quick stop for some Grey Goose.

Checkin was a breeze with no lines what so ever. BF didn't upgrade and received room 3027 with a North facing view. The wife and I upgraded to a South facing panoramic view for $25 a night. We were given room # 5432 which was really easy to remember at 3am when I was drunk out of my mind.

We waited 5 minutes for our bags and headed down to the Red Card desk to redeem our LeReve tix that my wife had won with her spin on our previous trip. They were dark in December so we had to wait until this trip to use them. While there we also learned that we only needed 55 points this trip to receive 1 free buffet, sweet!

The ladies headed for Fashion Show and BF and I headed for the dice table and slots to get our 55pts out of the way. Well four hours later we were doubled fisted and pretty drunk by 7PM. Went to the room to clean up and meet the ladies for dinner at Lavo. We enjoyed Lavo our last trip so we figured we'd catch a bite there and then go upstairs for a drink. I had the $28 chicken parm. This was by far the biggest piece of chicken I have ever seen in my life. This would have been good enough for the entire table as a meal! After dinner we went upsatirs for 2 drinks and decided to call it a night. Boy was my liver happy I was going to bed earlier than I have ever done so before in Vegas!

DAY 2

Well I already screwed up and didn't post my first day as a reply, oh well! Anyway the one advantage to going to bed early means getting a good seat at the pool the next morning. So I grabbed my $4 cup of coffee and headed outside. Both pools looked great but why not setup shop at the Euro pool? I grabbed a bunch of towels and saved three other loungers right in front of the pool. This would be the beginning of the end of me!

When I die I really hope to end up in a place like this. Blackjack, Craps, Half Naked women all poolside. The morning hours were pretty laid back but as lunch time hit so did everything else. I blew $30 on 2 Rum Runners before I figured out I should lose my money playing blackjack and getting FREE drinks! Well the $15 Rum Runners turned into $60 Rum Runners after dropping $300 over the next 2 hours!

Back to the room around 3PM to shower, nap and order room service. Both the wife and I ordered Gnocchi which were actually pretty good. I'm somewhat skeptical and spoiled when it comes to Italian food but we were pleasantly surprised. Everything totalled around $60 which isn't half bad either for room service.

Around 8 we hopped a cab down to MGM for two reasons. A) I'm really lazy when I'm on vacation (I've even cabbed it from the Rio to the Palms before) & B) MGM is one of my favorites. This is mostly due to the free rooms and good Karma I've had playing there. The place was packed so I didn't do much gambling there, but I did manage to snag a seat at the Sigma Derby. This is one of the greatest machines ever made. We didn't win anything but I did get a few drinks in me.

Next we hit the bridge over to NYNY which is another place which I always seem to do well in. This session would be no different! I quickly doubled my $300 buy-in and proceeded to tread water for the next hour. Had a good table with everyone playing together. 8 drinks later I get AA with $50 up. Long story short I had to split them 5 times. Usually this is where things go bad for me but the dealer goes bust and all is well. Now I'm up $625 and deceide to play one last hand for $125. I'm dealt 11 and the dealer is showing a 5. No brainer double here but I was dealt a 4. Dealer shows 15 and amazingly his next card is a Monkey! Amazingly I walked away up and found me a dice table. Rolled dice for about an 1 hour and made another $100 and consumer another 4 Crown & Gingers. Finally the wife showed up and I knew it was time to call it a night. Well I made up for the early night before by staying out until about 3:30. Hmmmmm I don't see another early pool day in my future!

LOL! Can't wait to hear more.

Explain the Sigma Derby to me. What is so great about that machine? I might want to try it next trip.

Day 3

Let the losing commence! Sorry it has taken so long to update but my son broke his foot at a baseball game on Saturday and I've been a little pre occupied!

Up early again and grabbed a few loungers by the pool. We dropped our stuff and headed over to the Wynn Buffet. I'm not a huge buffet person but for $20 bucks it's hard to screw up breakfast. I typically only eat two meals a day in Vegas anyway so I loaded up on the bacon and various other items. This was definetly one of the best buffets I've had in Vegas and I'd say that the buffet is equivalent if not better than the B's buffet.

Got back to the pool around 9:30 and just relaxed until they opened my newest favorite place to lose money in Vegas. The very friendly dealers and lavioushly looking coctail waitress Wendy helped seperate me from the $500 I brought down with me!

My wife and sister had Kenny Chesney tickets so we called it a day at the pool and got ready to head for the Hard Rock. This was my 1st time there since Feb 09 and I really wanted to see the additions to the casino. The casino addition was very nice and modern. We grabbed a quick bite at Mr Lucky's and watched my Preakness trifectas all come up losers! Considering it was a concert Saturday the place was rather dead, but to be fair Rciky and I cut out early while the ladies went to the concert.

So we hopped a cab over to City Center since I had not seen Aria yet as I missed the grand opening by a day in December. Most of what I have read so far about Aria was negative, but I went in with an open mind. Yes it is dark, but I really seemed to like that about it! Total opposite of Encore and it's natural light, but very modern and relatively easy to navigate for me. Once again no luck at the tables but the coctail service was one of the best I ever experienced on the strip. They would pour just about anything and the timing was fantastic!

Next we walked to the B so I could drop a quick $200 and then we deceided to go slumming at Bill's. I've never been before but I'm glad we did. We jumped on a $5 craps table that got hot as soon as we bought in. Around 12 Vodka/OJ's and $500 in winnings later we had enough. In my opinion Bill's is a real s...hole but the 60 year old coctail waitress was great and the people at our table were as well.

We had enough gambling for the day so we walked the strip to Harrah's and check out Carnival Court. I hate this walk as I refuse to set foot in that pink monstrosity with the parrott bar or the Imperial craphole. I did however manage to collect a few new business cards from some gentlemen south of the border. CC was a good time as usual but at this point I was really too tired to stand much longer! Perfect time for the strip club!

Ricky has two friends who work at the Rhino so we called for the limo and within a half hour we were relaxing and consuming some free beverages courtesy of the ladies. Usually one can drop major $$$ but since the drinks were free and there was no cover, I got away with only dropping $60 total on 3 lap dances! Hey my 1st break even session of the trip!
