Where to stay?

Looking to visit in September this year and can't decide/find where I want to stay. Looking at Planet H or NY NY but wondered if anyone could recommend something cheaper fairly near to these hotels and preferably in the same area of the strip (I believe these two are on the strip but could be wrong). Looked towards Excalibur ($430 for 5 nights twin room) but not sure what this would be like? Just lads going so not fussy about huge luxury in all honesty. Others aren't overly expensive but thought I would see if anyone had any local knowledge.

Cheers in advance and apologies for my poor spelling/English.

What are your exact dates? If you post the dates it'll help us find you a deal. $430 for 5 nights at Excal? I'm guessing your stay includes Fri-Sun? Which site did you get that quote? Directly from the hotel website or a third party site like expedia or hotels.com? You said "twin room" so that's how I thought you were looking at a third party site.

Excal is at the end of the strip. PH, Paris, Bally's or Flamingo are all good economical Choices. Bills is also a good choice, great location, no pool but you can use the Flamingo pool next door, which has one of the best pools in las vegas if that is important to you. You can also try Treasure Island or the Mirage. All of the places I have mentioned are pretty much center strip and will put you right in the middle of the action

Bally's is next door to Planet Hollywood and is usually cheaper. It's a good budget-ish choice, along with Harrah's and the Flamingo, and all of them are center strip.

MGM or MonteCarlo. www.smartervegas.com

Luxor is OK too. MC and Luxor have $15 resort fee daily(internet, water, etc).

Some people say the new remodeled tower at Tropicana is OK, price it on expedia.com.

Center strip is Ballys. TI is north strip, excal south strip. You will have no trouble seeing the whole strip from wherever you stay. Some people call properties near the north end "center strip" (Harrahs, Mirage, TI) but Ballys-Paris is the center.

Excalibur is not at the "end of the Strip". There are two main Strip areas that anyone really focuses on -- center Strip and south Strip. Excalibur is dead center of the south Strip area, sitting at the intersection of the Tropicana, MGM Grand, and NYNY.

Excalibur would most likely be cheaper than NYNY and if you're not picky, it'll be fine. Get a Widescreen room, though -- the standard rooms are dated.

We found our Park Ave room at NYNY to be ridiculously small and would have been upset if it wasn't comped.

We have stayed at New York and Harrah's. We tend to like Harrah's better as it is in the middle of eveything. If you plan on staying in your hotel a lot then stay at New York as much more to do. We go off and visit other casino's and end up at our hotel late evening. You spend little time in your room so why pay a lot for it.

Harrah's has a great outside bar with band and very entertaining bar tenders, a dulling piano bar and a few others. We are looking to go around the 19th of Septemeber and stay until Friday. You can get a room for around $360 for the week. Not bad. If you have members card even cheaper.

Good Luck!
