Flamingo concerns

I'm booked into Flamingo 28 Aug to 1 Sep.

Been reading a few updated reviews and am now having second thoughts.

Main reason for staying at Flamingo was no resort fees and it was central to the strip.

Past 3 visits to Las Vegas had me staying at Circus Circus, so thought it was time for a change.

I'm due to pay my final balance for the trip to my travel agent mid next month.

Should I just suck it up and stay or find elsewhere?

If your standard was Circus Circus, you are going to LOVE Flamingo. It's not top tier property, but depending on what you spent, can be had for a good deal and it is in a good location. Just depends on your budget.

Using the friends and family code for your dates, you can book the Flamingo GO room for $66 a night. I think thats a good deal.

flamingo is great. no top tier hotel or anything and it doesn't pretend to be. it's old school and dated but has an unbeatable location. use the $20 trick and get a GO room.

Bills is available for less than the flamingo those dates. The rooms are much nicer and you can still use the flamingo pool. Check-in/out is a boatload faster and the staff are much nicer. Its a fav of alot of us on TR (except for the snobs at the Wynn).

Do not worry. The Flamingo is absolutely one of the best values in Vegas. My only problem has been slow check-in on occasion.

We've stayed there several times. We have had some pretty nice rooms and some that were really old and worn. If you get one that's too worn, go back down and ask for another one. The second room they give you is usually better than the first. They will give you a better one if they have one available. We always have fun when we stay there even when we have a sorry room. The grounds are lovely, and the location is the very best (except maybe Harrahs). They are both sooooo good. The Steakhouse 46 there is a great place to eat one evening. Margaritaville is a fun place, too, and you can walk across the street and see LOVE at the Mirage or Mystere at TI. Terry Fator at Mirage is also a scream. It's a really cute show. Donny and Marie right there at Flamingo is a good show, too. I think you will have fun at Flamingo!

My last 3 trips were spent at the Flamingo, once in a Go room.

I'm sure if you stayed at Circus Circus before you should definitely find the Flamingo a step Up!

Location is about the best at Mid-Strip and you walk right out the front of the Casino and you're ON the Strip, no big Hikes just to get in and out of the place. The Pool is still one of the better ones on the Strip as well.

Though I have not stayed in the Flamingo, I have visited it and also have talked with people who have. You will definitely find it better than Circus Circus (I have stayed there and it is not nearly as bad as some of the reviews make it seem). My wife is a turtle freak, we stop at the Flamingo every time we are in Vegas and spend time in the habitat area where she can watch the turtles swim and sun themselves. Our upcoming Vegas trip in August was going to be at the Flamingo until we got a sweetheart deal at the Golden Nugget (we love it downtown).

We've stayed at the Flamingo, and I get frustrated when people read bad reviews and it scares them....you have to keep in mind that people are anonymous here and get exagerate and also get mad about something else (like they lost some money) so post negative reviews.

The main reason I like this forum is that we have MANY regulars that I do trust and take their advice and suggestions anytime over the comments someone puts in a hotel review on TA.

The bird sanctuary and pool area is beautiful, and there is a great slushy stand by the doors going to that area. The Flamingo is in a great location on the strip, and you don't have to eat or gamble there since there are many options in Vegas. Anyway please don't be scared off by some negative reviews, and just keep posting and asking questions here since you WILL receive good and helpful information :)
