I can't decide!

Swithering between the Imperial Palace and the Desert Rose. Have been to Las Vegas a couple of times and stayed in the Imperial Palace and NYNY before. Am going to be coming for a fortnight in April and those are the two cheapest options. Which would you go for? We are three girls aged 35-40. We wont have a car either. The Desert Rose not being on the strip is putting me off slightly.

No car ? IP for definite.

If you're a little bored with the IP and don't mind the monorail or Deuce costs then maybe the Riviera (rooms are nicer than IP and complimentry upgrades very common) but it's a trade off although IMO not such a trade off as the DR.

Another option might be the Gold Coast-off strip but with a free reliable shuttle (til midnight and then an inexpensive taxi after) and the Rio and Palms are both close enough to walk to-again the rooms are nicer than IP.

I think it's really going to be down to how much location counts for you.

Really though if you need to factor in any additional costs for traveling you'll probably find it just as cheap to stay at somewhere like Ballys or the Flamingo on an offer when you add in the extra costs.

Its actually a package I'm doing and those are the hotel choices. I know in America you don't really believe in package holidays but this really is quite a good price as the flight alone just now is £600 and I can get a package for just a couple hundred more. The other cheap option is Circus Circus but that is a definite no no for me. The Luxor is also there but thats £100 more than IP so I'm as well going there, and its central. More money to spend while there!!!!!

I would definitely say IP if those are your options...

How long are you staying? You say only a couple hundred more for IP--have you priced the room separately to be sure it is a good deal? ( I have seen IP for less than $35/nt avg, even over a weekend...)

Ah, what a great word, we Americans never see it except in old novels...fortnight...means 2 weeks.

You said you've been to Vegas before so maybe you have a bit of an idea what places you might frequent the most during your visit. I'd take that into consideration when picking the hotel. Don't want to waste precious Vegas time going from point A to point B.

Based on rooms alone though NYNY has nicer rooms of the two Strip locations you mentioned.

I think for two weeks Desert Rose's location might become a bit of an annoyance after awhile without a car.

IP and you can walk everywhere on the strip or take a bus or free shuttle to different casinos. Search bus or shuttle on this site. Have fun.

Thanks you guys for all your help. nb_fiddler, think you have a very going point about the location of Desert Rose, I had been kind of thinking that myself.
