Christmas in Vegas

When does Las Vegas decorate for Christmas? We would like to visit Vegas and see the casinos dressed up for Christmas. Are there places in the valley that go all out with decorations? We are thinking about coming the week after Thanksgiving.

probably the 2 best spots to see for decorations are:

Sunset Park has an awesome Christmas light display, every year. It is drive-through, with numerous displays. I try to go every year, but I missed 2009 (the family went when I was out of town, and I nevr bothered to go since they had already been).

You will find that Tourist Vegas does not do much for Christmas. The casinos put out very little effort. I have never known if this is for fear of offending some people, or what the reason is.

Bellagio's conservatory is done up for Winter. Sam's Town is done up for Christmas. I can't think of much else beyond a token tree or two, and some minor decorations.

Casinos dont really go all out for this suprisingly. Its really just another day with gambling and drinking. Of course they will put on fancier dinners.

They might have a christmas tree or the like buts its not crazy like you would think.

Don't go to Vegas for the Christmas spirit. If it is anything like Atlantic City (and it sounds like it is) we were there on Christmas Day and you never would have known it inside the casino. The stores were also open.

Fremont Street has a tree lighting ceremony on Tuesday 12/7. There is also a Santa Run that starts down by Town Square on Sat 12/4 And the marathon is Sunday 12/5

Not exactly decorations, but they add a few Christmas themed songs to both the Bellagio fountains and the Fremont Street Experience. Makes it more fun and festive.

And don't forget.......Christmas is just as busy (if not more busy!) as any other weekend in Vegas, especially since this year, Christmas lands on the weekend!!
