Tropicana or Teasure Island

Was thinking about booking some nights at the Tropicana before moving to the MGM. However TI are doing a good deal so Tropicana and TI are roughly the same price. Has anyone stayed at either property recently and how did they rate them?

I haven't stayed at the Trop for years so can't comment on all the new renovations there. TI is a nice enough hotel.

But if you're going to split your stay between MGM and one of these, it doesn't make a lot of sense to choose the Trop right across the street. You should stay at TI so you can have a few days at the opposite end of the Strip.

I have only stayed at Treasure Island, the beds are extremely comfortable, you would not be disappointed. Have not stayed at Tropicana, I hear it's kind of a dump but they are renovating and the renovated rooms are nice from what I have read. I also like the location of TI better. (just my opinion)

The rooms at TI have been quite recently refurbished and are very nice. The only thing I really don't like about TI is the pool, which is too small for the size of the hotel and can get very overcrowded. So I would never stay there if I was hoping to spend time relaxing by the pool. I hear the newly refurbished rooms at the Trop are very nice, but I haven't stayed there so don't know how much disruption the work they are doing is causing for guests.

If both deals include the pesky resort fees, nevermind. Otherwise, if it plays a factor, keep in mind TI resort fees per day ($20) are double that of Trop's ($10).

I stopped into the Trop in July to check it out and it is really nice inside... I might even stay there next trip. If you look under the Trop's latest reviews, they are pretty good. I don't like TI, never did. But I do think that TI's location is better than the Trop.

I've stayed at TI and have it booked for November because of their generous comps. If you book through the players club they don't include the resort fees. I will say even if you can't and book direct, their resort fees include so much more than any hotel's I've seen.

I walked through Trop before their remodel and I just can't imagine anything but a bomb making that dreary place improved enough for me to walk in again. Rooms look decent enough in pics.

But like has been suggested...try TI and experience that end of the strip before moving back to MGM.

Here's TI:

Lawrence....it's called a make over..no bombs needed....if you haven't seen the actual results why be so negative and pessimistic??

Hey! Low is one of the happiest most helpful people on this board. Seems to me he always gives good advice. ex[ book through pllayers club = no resort fee] Don't you dare pick on him, he only was giving his opinion. LOL Actually I mean it, he's the best!

Hands down it's TI. No contest really. Great location, tons of options within easy walking distance, the best view of the Strip, ask for a high floor, facing south.

Well thanks Maggie =)

Nuzz, it's Lowrance... and you may have a point. I really shouldn't judge before actually seeing.

But they'd have to raise the roof and expand, even before replacing carpets and painting, then organizing it a whole h3ll of alot.

When I looked beofre the remodel it was so despressing I couldn't even take one photo. And recent reports have been good for the rooms, but not so much the casino.

Ceilings were so low before I almost hit my head (I'm 6'6")on a fire sprinkler heading for the pool area.

I'll try and take a look in November to make a more informed decision.
