Leave in 4 days.......last minute advice

What last minute bit of advice can all you nice people share with me?

It's my first time to Vegas, going with a group of friends but have individual stuff organised and am aiming to just have fun for the week! lots of reading/searching done and pretty much have our week sorted but what's that one vital thing you feel I should know? It doesn't matter of its useful or useless I'm sure every tip will come in handy ;)

Ps, have packed 3 pairs of comfy shoes :)

You've got the #1 concern covered, now pack some extra patience for any lines you encounter, extra patience for the drunks who don't know where the edge of decorum is, and extra patience for yourself as you realize you won't be able to do every fabulous thing that you want to on your first visit. Have fun!

Which hotel are you staying at? There may be hotel-specific tips you could really use.

Take care of your nose. The humidity in Las Vegas is zero percent . Channel that air through an air-conditioning system and you'll wake up with blood in your nose or worse. And you'll be on your way to a nice sinusitus or other respiratory problem.

There are various inexpensive products out there to keep your nose hydrated. Do yourself a favor and buy one of them. Don't lend it to others; make them get their own.

Try to keep a supply of $1 and $5 bills to hand so you always have money for tips. Try to stay up until a decent Vegas bedtime or later your first night - if you sleep too soon the first night, you'll carry on waking at 3.00 or 4.00 every morning and never get into the new time zone. Carry lipsalve and water if you're going out and about on foot. If your eyes and/or nose get uncomfortably dry (because of the much lower humidity) they sell eyedrops and nasal sprays in CVC and Walgreens. That and the comfy shoes is everything practical. Apart from that, just have fun.

If it's your first visit, no matter how much research you've done, the reality will be somehow different that what you expect (usually better, but I'm an optimist), so make sure you stay open to changing your plans accordingly and don't let yourself get too locked in to your pre-trip agenda.

Have a great trip!

Oh thanks for such quick replies!

Staying in NY NY. I'm very happy to 'go with the flow' and change plans as we go along but its always good to be reminded its going to happen. Hopefully the time change shouldnt be too bad- I'm used to being up all day then heading off for a night shift so my body clock is always screwed up lol.

As for the drunks.........I work in an Emergency department so it will be like home from home ;)

Thanks again and if there are any more they would be really appreciated

NYNY is one of the closer strip hotels to the airport, so definitely no tunnel when you get in the cab at McCarran!

When I was there in August the temps were around 105 daily. The one single thing I wish I would have done is buy a 3 day bus pass. I would have been able to see a lot more as it was difficult to be out in that heat. Also if you want to see a show try and get tickets before you leave. Any of the ones I wanted to see were sold out.

I am thinking about going back in October and definitely plan to follow my own advice, lol.

If you have any interest in playing table games, you should check into the WIN cards. They have them at Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, and Tropicana. All of these casinos are in walking distance to NY/NY.

What you do is pay for the WIN Cards, and you will get non-negotiable chips to use at the table games. The cards teach the basics of blackjack, craps, and roulette. You will either pay $10 and get $15 in chips, or pay $20 and get $30 in chips. It is a nice way to start if you have never played the table games, and it is a really nice way to get a little extra to start with every if you already play the table games.

But, the most important advice? HAVE FUN!!!!

Don't forget the ATM and especially your license/ID

My lips always get chapped in Vegas.

Bring one of those lip balm things
