IP or Flamingo

Ok, so for our next trip we pretty much have our rooms comped at either Imperial Palace or Flamingo, for 7 nights, thru total rewards.

We like Imperial, have stayed there last 2 visits, casino is fun, location is perfect, rooms clean (deluxe) always had a good stay there (yes except for the elevators, lol).

Now the other couple coming with us (who have been with us past couple stays at IP as well) they started to like the poker tables over at Flamingo and have decided they may want to try it out and stay there this time instead?

Both are pretty much same rates, through our Total Rewards comps.... now I been to Flamingo and didn't really like the feel of the place, but I never stayed long nor did I check entire place out... we just went quickly, walked around, ate at the terrible overpriced restaurant and viewed the smelly outside flamingos, LOL.

I'm thinking of just sticking to the IP since I know I like it, and for 7 days I don't want to try Flamingo and if im dissapointed them I'm stuck there for a week..... Imperial bedrooms are clean, decent, we always stay in a Deluxe Room... and looking at Flamingo rooms, the Deluxe, not much difference to me, I really dont care about the room as never in much, just want something decent...

what would you choose?

oh, and the pool is not an issue... we dont really use the pool....I know flamingo has a better pool.... but based on the rooms, casino, is flamingo (delxue rooms) alot better? Am I really getting alot more at Flamingo over IP at the same price??? Doesn't seem like it to me, but what do others think?

No question...IP because it has a Fat Tuesday's!!

I actually haven't stayed at either, but friends stayed at Flamingo last month and I was not impressed with the room. I'm also not a fan of the Flamingo casino...something slightly depressing about it.

Until this last trip, I'd never even stepped foot in IP, but must admit...I really liked it (huge surprise to me!)...The casino was fun, and..did I mention the Fat Tuesday's?

Me...I'd stick with IP.

i have stayed at both resorts. i think the flamingo is a higher quality resort. i stayed last year at ip for the first time because it was free and i was not bringing the wife. i was upset that the rooms at ip did not have a safe. i had to use the deposit box at the casino. i admit the room(deluxe) was clean and fine. if both room rates were the same i would stay at flamingo.

Even if you don't use the pool the gardens are nice to visit (I do like the little area with a fountain) and the Flamingo has an easier access to the strip. Flamingo also seems brighter to me, I don't much care for the darker carpet at the IP, and also they have Margaritaville.

We stayed at both but can't compare since we had a suite at the Flamingo and standard room at IP.

One plus for IP (well a couple)...it is next door to Harrah's so just a short walk to be in that casino, there is now a Fat Tuesday's, and there is a Hash House.

We like the Flamingo casino, Margaritaville, the bird sanctuary area, and there is a slushy machine by the doors leading to that area.

I did a review of the IP and our stay there was last month, and I think I did a review of the Flamingo when we stayed there if you have time to go read those comments.

I'm not going to be much help either as I've not stayed in either, but.... If I know I like somewhere, I'd prob stick to that, esp as it's for a full week. Maybe if it was 2 or 3 nites I'd risk a different hotel but you don't want to be regretting the decision the whole holiday! That's my tuppence worth anyway!

I'd give the advantage to IP for the lil balconies alone. Plus, I really hate the tropical/coconut scent they use at Flamingo and all the pink neon inside. Just never really found a reason to like the place. Only time it seems we go in is to bypass the sidewalk traffic.

Someone mentioned Flamingo was easier/closer to get to the strip but I thought it would be further since the guest elevators are at the back of the hotel also. It seems it would be about the same distance I think or am I wrong?

Hey Spinguy...forgot to mention the balconies so good save :)

I also think it's about the same from the elevators to the strip, but the IP has the club in front of the casino (when the drive is to valet)...so maybe the person was referring to that making it a longer walk to the strip in the IP. I would call that a non-issue, wouldn't you?
