Best place to watch the BCS National Championship game?

My DH and I are huge Boise State fans. In the off chance that we actually do make it to the championship game we have planned a trip to Vegas where we would just cancel our room reservations and drive down to Glendale.

I know the powers that be (BCS) don't want us to go, so I want to make sure I have a place to go watch the game in Vegas if/when BSU doesn't end up going.

Last year we were in Vegas for the end of March Madness and the sportsbooks and pubs on the strip were packed-standing room only.

I am WAY into football and this would no do for the BCS championship game.

What venue would you recommend where we can actually get a table and see the t.v.? Good cheap food is a plus, but not necessary. Anythig tastes good when you are watching football!

We would be willing to go off strip if necessary-would probably try to use the buses.

Thanks!

Your non conference wins against Oregon St & V Tech are a good start. However, if you want to play for the title, considering your weak conference, you need to do better that Wyoming & Toledo for your other non-conference wins. Replace those wins with another Pac 10 (12?) or a Big 12, Big 10, or SEC road win and every BCS voter plus the puter itself will roll out the red (or will it be blue?) carpet. I'd watch the game at Caesars BTW. FWIW, I love watching Boise St!! I think Oregon (wow what a team) vs Boise St would not only be a great game but would also decide a legitimate national champ :)

Agree 100%. We do need to play better teams. We need a better conference....we thought we had just got into one then all the stronger teams bailed. Its hard getting "good" teams to play us. Ahhhhhh! I know a lot of its a political thing...blah blah. My DH follows that, I don't. I just watch and love the game. =)

And yes, we would loooooooove to play Oregon again!

As far as Caesars, do you mean at their sportsbook? Or is there a specific bar/pub? (I ask because the sportsbook at Caesars was one of the places we tried last year and it was standing room only).

To answer the main question: Lagasse Stadium.

You'll have to make a reservation and there will no doubt be a food minimum, but you'll have couches, your own TV, and the same waitress all the way through. Unfortunately, it won't be cheap.

Every bar in town will have the game on of course, but if you don't need a sports book handy, you might look into someplce like the Crown And Anchor: http://www.crownandanchorlv.com They're obviously UK oriented, but I'll bet the BCS game will be on.

There may also be BCS parties - I'd start by calling the Hilton, then MGM, Caesars and some of the other biggies. It'll cost some money, but will surely be less than Lagasse's.

Of course this is all tied to collegiate amateur sports involving "student" athletes.... drives me crazy.

But I second the vote for Lagasse. Don't fret the food and drink minimums for the couch seating - it really is a great atmosphere and you have to drink and eat somewhere.

I think, given a month to prepare, Boise State could compete with, and potentially defeat, any team in the country. Including Oregon and Auburn. They've proven that in the past with big bowl victories.

BUT -- could Boise compete, week in and week out, in a real conference against Top-25 opponents on a regular basis? Don't know, and it's unfair to give them the same chances as teams that play against tougher competition.

So far, they've beaten one Top-25 team (Va Tech) with another game against #18 Nevada remaining. The combined records of their opponents to this point is 38-49.

Auburn's beaten 4 teams currently in the BCS Top 25, with games against #11 and #17 remaining. Opponents to this point are 65-47.

Oregon has beaten 1 top 25 team, with 1 more to go. Their resume is actually similar to Boise State's, with opposing teams' records a combined 41-58.

If Auburn beats the defending national champs (Alabama) and a very good South Carolina team to win the SEC, the conference that has produced the last 4 national champions, there will be no doubt in my mind they are the best team in the land.

Oregon, even though the Pac-10 is weaker than usual this year, has to get the nod over Boise State. Can't reward a team for playing in basically a junior varsity conference. It's not Boise's fault, as they're hungry to play tough out-of-conference games. But 2-3 tough games per year isn't enough. Got to play in a real conference if you want to be considered championship material.

To answer the main point of this question, however -- I watched Alabama/Texas at Main Street Station's 777 Brewpub downtown last year. Great food, great beer specials. Not quite as enjoyable as their Monday Night Football NFL games, when they go all out with raffles and other fun stuff. But still a good time.

Thanks! i will check out Lagasse and the 777!

As far as the other stuff-way out of my scope of knowledge. All I know is we want to play better teams but just can't get them scheduled.

Wow, Lagasse's looked great but did I read this right-a $5000 minimum?

Has anybody ever been and know exactly what the minimum is or have any other comments?

i watched last years championship game at caesars. caesars has huge screens but they have the section roped off and you have to be 7* to get access to the tables. behind the roped off area they had chairs set up for the rest of us low rollers. it was packed and a lot of fun.

i will be in vegas this year for for the game also but probably won't go to caesers to watch it. flamingo has a show room (Bugsys Cabaret) next to the sports book. during football games they open it up. they have like 5 old school big screen tv's and two projection screens. we usually watch the wild card playoff games there on saturday and sunday the same week as the bcs game. the room is usually empty and they have a waitress for drinks.

When I asked about Boise State in the National Championship, Big Mike, the local odds maker, choked and spewed half a chili dog all over my shirt before I could even get all the question out . His brother told me to get the h#ll out if I couldn't ask anything sensible.

Here is what I found out re: Lagasse's in case anyone else is following my thread:

Food and Bev minimums for that day are set at $100 per person. Everything you order will go towards your minimum. The only thing not included is tax and gratuity. Would you like to book some thing? If so just call the number below and a hostess can take care of your party for two. If you have any more questions feel free to contact me any time.
