Ain't no party like a Sheffield party - Alice's TR

The brief rundown:

Arrived Saturday 11/13 - left Tuesday 11/16. Three nights at Imperial Palace. Got tattooed. Partied like a rockstar. Can't believe I survived to tell the tale.

Had absolutely NO luck this trip when it came to gambling. Hit a fun bonus round at a Wynn slot with 112 free spins which got me almost $80 and that was my biggest hit of the trip. I didn’t go home with much money in my wallet, but I only bring enough that I’m willing to lose. There’s always next time…

My real WINS this trip were the memories made and the friendships of beautiful, hilarious, generous people. Old friends and new friends alike. I am blessed beyond measure having been able to be a part of this birthday celebration and all the other fun events surrounding it.

I don’t know what could possibly top this – it was truly EPIC! Future M&Gs have a lot to live up to.

Full TR will be posted in parts below.

Can't wait to read this one, sounds like all of you had a great time - and those of us who couldn't make it all wish we'd been there as well!

Saturday:

Awake at 4:30am to catch airport shuttle at 5am. Got upgraded to 1st class which was AMAZING! Best way to start a trip! Served Bailey's & coffee in a real coffee mug. Breakfast was eggs benedict and fruit with real silverware! Meals aren't normally served on my flight since it's usually only 2 hours in length. Coach class got pretzels and basic beverages.

Flight arrived in Vegas almost 30 minutes early! I made the mistake of taking a shuttle to the hotel. So much for being early - it took almost 90 minutes from the time I got in the van, stops at 3 other hotels, and then mine. I pretty much always use the airport shuttles and this is the first time it has ever been so slow. Oh well.

Check-in lady wat IP was super nice. We talked about Seattle weather. I was glad to get a room immediately since I wouldn't get back to the Strip until very late that night. The room was hilarious! 5th floor, no windows except for the small sliding glass door to the porch that was covered in pigeon crap. But I had a view of the Bellagio! LOL Actually, it was just the top of the dome. My real view was of the parking garage and more pigeon roosting. Room was large because there was no desk or seating area except for a small table and chair by window if I wanted to enjoy my view. Bed was rock hard and air conditioner was from the Regan administration. Seriously though, I’m not much of a complainer. None of these things were terrible enough to make me ask for another room. The good points were it was quiet - the parking garage blocked the noise from Carnival Court. Toilet and shower worked. I wouldn’t be back to the room until 2am or later every single day so I could care less what it looked like. It served its purpose. I was content.

Left immediately for Miracle Mile shops. Went to ABC store to pick up some things. I had brought some little gift bags from home for my girls going to the tattoo shop with me. They each got a little bag of Tattoo Essentials: Healing ointment, unscented lotion, chocolate, and mini-bottles of booze!

Around 1pm, met up at Ocean One with HarlemGirl, her friend Deb, and Legospice. Food was decent. Service was not that great. Surprised when they started shilling photographs like they do at some of the Vegas shows. Photographer took our picture and then asked us to buy copies for $10 each. I didn't buy one but HG did and gave it to me. Such a sweetie.

After lunch we met up with Foxy and jumped a bus Downtown. Tattooing was next! We got there at 4pm. There were 5 of us girls getting tattoos. It was extra special because it was Lego’s first tattoo ever. I’ll let her tell you about that, but I was super proud of her and now she is addicted. She already had 5 more tattoo designs picked out before we even left the shop! My tattoo is a martini glass with dice in the glass. It's on my ankle above the cherries I got on my foot in September. I'll be getting another addition to my "lucky Vegas foot" when I go back in December.

After tattoos was the M&G at ElCortez. Chocolate Martoonis were flowing and we were all feeling good. Instant love meeting Sheff and his family for the first time. I feel like I've known them forever. Such warm, welcoming, and fun-loving people. Some folks were playing craps with HTR and his lovely wife. Most of us just hung out at the piano bar and chit chatted, drank, and made merry.

I have no idea how late it was, but HG, Deb, and myself got a hankering for cheeseburgers so we hoofed it down to DuPar’s at the other end of Fremont to the GoldenGate and enjoyed a nice cheap meal. I liked the Mushroom Swiss burger a lot. Us girls played around on slots for a while and eventually caught up with some of the gang under the canopy. Got to see Sheff’s brave daughter and her boyfriend do the zipline down Fremont street. Amazing they let her do that in such a short, short skirt! It was super fun to watch them screaming down the wires. My little video of it didn’t turn out that great on my iphone but it was fun to watch.

Me and the NY girls went back to the Strip via the Deuce and I crashed as soon as I got to my rock hard hotel bed. It was somewhere around 2AM and it had been a LONG day for me.

Sunday morning

I slept until somewhere around 9am. Foxy met me at the IP at 10-ish and we went to Hash House for breakfast. We shared the famed Man vs. Food Rosemary Chicken Benedict. Sharing charge is only $2.50. It was absolutely massive - it was now a Girls vs. Food challenge! Even with both of us eating, the plate was still 3/4 full when we were done. I took before and after pictures.

Besides the food, Hash House was fantastic. We only had to wait 5 minutes for a table, even on a busy Sunday morning. Our waiter was super nice (not to mention handsome!) and very helpful - always making sure we had coffee, creamer, napkins, etc. They also had a great soundtrack going on in the restaurant with a fun mix of 70's, 80's and 90's. Foxy and I were grooving and (quietly) singing along and enjoying our breakfast. Would love to go to Hash House again and share more of their massive meals. I don't think I'd ever go there alone though - too much food for solo dining.

Before 12 noon, Foxy and I made it up to the Stratosphere to see Sheff jump. Unfortunately it was postponed until later in the day and ultimately wound up missing the jump. But we hung out at Strat for a little while and played some slots with the Sheffield crew and the Shrek family.

I enjoyed playing at Strat - this was the first time being in that casino for me and Foxy. I liked the low max bets on some popular machines. For example, Quick Hits were only max bet $1.50 instead of the $3 at other Strip locations. I played on those for a while but walked away even money – spent $40 and won $40 in the brief time we were there. Would like to return to play some more on another trip - I would also like to go up to the top of the tower at some point. We also learned that their main bar near the Player’s club booth has a $20 "all you can drink" happy hour from 5-9pm. Didn’t get to take advantage of that special this time around.

Back to the Strip to meet up with folks for lunch at BB Kings. Got to meet Malv’s husband who was the only fella at the table. He did a good job not looking too freaked out by all these crazy women. Va was there too - I'm certain I have met her before but we never had time to talk before. What a delight! HG, Deb, and Lego were lunching with us too. Food was good – huge portions and inexpensive. I had some sort of BBQ chicken sandwich. Drinks were good too and I got a souvineer glass which I gave to Lego. No live music at that point of the day but we were seated right next to the big screen watching some football.

After lunch all the girls eventually made their way over to Wynn at Parasol Up for our own little “girls only happy hour”. Low’s wife, Roselle, had scored some seats and tables for us. More chocolate martoonis were flowing. Yum! Unfortunately our drink date with the girls was cut short because Roz and Low had to meet some family for dinner. The rest of us just played around at Wynn for a while. This is where I had my 112 free spin bonus. Foxy and I eventually joined HarlemGirl over at Encore for more football watching. Well, they watched football. I sat with my back to the screen and was just content drinking a few Espresso martoonis which were TO DIE FOR! Could have easily stayed there relaxing for a few more hours but we had a party to get to!

Quick shower and change at our respective hotel rooms and it was off to Rio...
