City Center blasted for design, I agree 100%

lasvegassun.com/news/…

I didn't go into CC on my last visit for exactly this reason, bad access (and even cursed the idiots who designed this place and the Cosmopolitan) for obstructing pedestrian traffic in the area.

I guess us 25 million or so "looky loos" as the CEO of City Center calls us just aren't 'good enough' for their complex. I'll bet the other casinos & hotels on the strip are happy to get the 2-3 billion a year we spend in the casinos or restaurants.

I like the design on City Center. I find the angles interesting and thoughtfully done. I tend to spend more time here then at other places. It looks different then any place else.

I think this statement from the article describes alot of people though.

“Most people aren’t willing to walk more than 200 feet to get to where they want to go,” he said. “They move like livestock. They follow a leader and if you don’t have something to grab their attention, the leader will find another watering hole someplace else.”

One reason I love Las Vegas is that is provides many options for many visitors...what one person likes, another might not. I think the complex is interesting, and we enjoy the casino at Aria so will probably return (just took the tram over from Bellagio with no problem)

Ducky where is the tram? We are planning to see the conservatory at Bellagio for the Christmas display and thought CC might be interesting.

Just go down the hall on the south side of the conservatory, and there is a back door out to the tram station. There was also an employee from Bellagio standing there to help people find the way out the correct door :)

Edit to add...we walked by a bar or restaurant (can't remember the name) that had a little waterfall feature down the outside wall..really neat looking!

We did the tram too..along the way you also pass the giant chocolate fountain..on the way abck we had to stop for a crepe and gellato! Imo I don't. Like the city center....the mall was sooooo bland. The casino had no energy. While I found a few places with color and intrest...I felt tired when I left.. and I won a bit there.. couldn't wait to get back to the B where there was life!

From the tram platform at Monte Carlo the backside of city center is beautiful at night. I was surprised how pretty is was.

Topeka- the restaurant w the waterfall in B is Sensi. They have a great cocktail menu and feature a happy hour w bar food everyday from 3 to 5. I always stop there on my way to the tram to Aria! Yum.

I think CC is interesting. I enjoy the architecture and don't find it difficult to access the properties at all. I usually tram from B.

I'll go with the "wait and see" idea, but agree that the entrance to the complex is not really inviting looking. I have take the tram over from MC, and I walked into the Crystals from the street. After walking into the mall, shopping and buying, I just walked back out. I don't feel there is much to "grab" you.

But, I also like Red Rock because of the "away from it all feeling", so if staying at Aria gives you that, I'll probably try it in the future. Just another way to see Las Vegas. I don't like to do the same thing every time.

BUT...I also like how they gloss over the fact that they screwed up royally with the Harmon. ;)

On a recent episode of Top Chef, Just Desserts, the contestants were told of their next challenge while standing out by the driveway. After being told that it was time to head into Jean Phillipe Maury's kitchen inside Aria, they did have a look like "aw cr*p, we have to walk?"

I'm sure a tram that connects the CC buildings to Bellagio on one end and CC on the other was built to keep them all happy, but it seems like a U-shaped one from the street that went over the driveway and took you to all the CC buildings would have probably been better.
