Sahara $1 Blackjack

I played blackjack for 2.5 hours at the Sahara and lost $4. I was ahead a few times :) However, I was wondering how does Sahara Casino make money? I know that its a full house there with a lot of people playing those tables. Overall I like Sahara. I don't know if I would stay there? I saw bad reviews on Tripadvisor. Maybe on my next trip I'll stay at Circus Circus and hop on over to Sahara. Are there any other casinos with $1 blackjack? I've seen $3 black jack at Circus Circus, Casino Royale and Hooters.

They make money because of the bad rules. I believe they only pay 1:1 on a $1 bet BJ and 6:5 on larger wagers. I also believe they have limits on splitting and doubling down.

The best low wager BJ game in Vegas is at the El Cortez on Fremont street. They have $3 single deck BJ that pays 3:2. THey also have a $3 double deck game that pays 3:2. AVOID any BJ tables that does not pay 3:2.

The table is a "loss leader" to get people into the casino. Sahara has lots of low-limit options and someone coming in to sit down at $1 Blackjack will most likely raise their bets at some point or play other games. It's got a high house edge but because of the speed of the game and the low minimum, it's cheaper to sit there than it is at the more expensive tables, even if the Blackjack only pays even money. Much like playing a penny machine one coin at a time, if you acknowledge that you're just there to have fun, get free drinks, or otherwise kill time, you're good. Most likely you will not "win" any money at the table without raising your bets at some point.

I saw people splitting double tens and then another ten came up and they split it again. The dealer had a 9 up. Another woman wanted to double down on 18 :) God. I had fun for 4 dollars though. I did vary the bet when the odds were in my favor. However, it didn't work all the time. :)

Slots A Fun has a $2 Blackjack table I believe it's a 6/5 payout which makes it slightly better than Sahara BJ.

Sahara $1 BJ is so much fun!! I go there every trip to get my table game fix without losing the mortgage payment! LOL!!! Fast drink service and normal, down to earth people playing. Definately a good time.

Excellent drink service but terrible rules, don't expect a lot of respect from the casino playing these tables either.

I was a regular and have stayed there 4 times, i still went up on my last trip a couple of afternoons but as a serious gambler they have lost my custom.

I stayed there in August and the rooms I was in weren't nearly as bad as some of the reviews posted on here made them out to be. A lot of the common areas are in serious need of renovation, but the rooms themselves were fine, especially given the dirt cheap price.

And I agree with JNCLondon's comment about the drink service. You'll never go thirsty there :)
