I cannot recommend a variety comedy club, but I would steer you towards Amazing Jonathon at the Harmon if you like some bizarre incorrect comedy.

Gordie Brown is still downtown I think. It isn't an Improv type setup, but he is very funny. There is an Improv at Harrah's that is very good as well.

I've been to the Improv at Harrah's and the comedy club at Four Queens. The Improv seems to get better headliners, but Four Queens gets pretty solid, if less well known comedians. Brad Garret's comedy club at the Tropicana looks interesting based on their lineup - I plan to give it go on my next trip. The shows follow the common standup show format of opening comedian who acts as emcee, featured comedian, then the headliner and last about 90 minutes. Standup clubs are about the same, it's all about who's on stage that week.

Part of my standard prep for a Vegas trip is to check the clubs' websites ahead of time to see who's playing, then go to the comedians website and check their videos for a preview of their style. But I am particular about my comedy.
