Girls' weekend on a budget...

I have a trip in Vegas coming up in March. I’ll be there for a work event, and I’m unsure when the people are putting me up for the first couple of nights, but after that I’m going to stay the weekend on my own dime, and am struggling with where to stay (and what to do):

It’s going to be me and my best friend who are both 20 something females.

I want to be on the strip, but as I did more research it seems that the recommended hotels for our demographic (The Palms, Mandalay, Planet Hollywood) are sort of off the beaten path.

I was looking at Bally’s, the Flamingo, or Luxor originally.

I want good restaurants (sushi!!!) and a decent pool scene (is this even realistic in March), but basically I think I just want somewhere that we don’t feel like we’re on a Senior trip, or sacrificing having a good time to save money (hoping to pay less than $200 a night but if it’s not that big a difference for a better place I’d do it).

Also- I’m not super set on seeing a show, so what are the must hits for night life? Best clubs, or bars without super long waits, or the intimidating VIP scene…

Would love any recommendations, or suggestions. thanks

" The Palms, Mandalay, Planet Hollywood"

Planet H is center strip and in the heart of all the action.

Luxor is too far South

Ballys is mid priced next to Planet H and is decent

Flamingo is a low end hotel but has a decent location mid strip

MGM not center strip but decent location and nice Hotel for the money.

March can be cold and some pools are closed

You can stay in many nice places for $200 a night

Look in Mirage, Treasure Island and of course Planet H.

What to see,

Las Vegas does have its must see's plus other things to do and see given the time.

First timers should ay least see.

The Bellagio Fountains

The Bellagio Conservatory

The Forum shops at Caesars Palace.

The Mirage Volcano show.

The Upper level of the Venetian, shops, shows, restaurants and Gondola ride.

The Sirens show at Treasure Island.

City Center

Downtown light show if you have time, go at night

Other things to do if you have time.

Go for drinks at MIX located at THEHotel, go in early evening.

Check out the Big name Hotels, Wynn, Bellagio, Caesars, Palazzo, Encore, MGM, Mirage, Venetian and Mandalay Bay.

Check out the shops at Planet Hollywood Hotel.

Have a drink atop the Stratosphere Tower at sunset.

Of course this is just a small list but it will introduce you to the sights and sounds of LV.

March is a big month and includes 4 weekends, one of which will be one of the most expensive of the year. Also the weather will be probably be very different the 1st weekend than the last. Which dates were you looking at?

I think I'd vote for PH because of the vibe and location. There are a large group of us from here on the forum going that weekend. And I know hotel rates are crazy expensive then. :-(

Go for The Palazzo and skip PH if you can. Depends on your budget.

It is going to be one of the busiest weekends due to March Madness.

For the nightlife, "Act As If..." and you will have no problems and you won't spend a dime. There will be plenty of guys looking to buy your drinks.

Most "Pool Parties" don't start until end of April/May

It's going to be a very tough, and expensive, weekend. Try and check out properties with the lesser sportsbooks. Take a look at NYNY, Tropicana, Luxor, Monte Carlo, Flamingo and Harrahs. Don't worry about the pool. as the weather might not work. Or even the clubs or bars because you can always go to other hotels for those.

Also know that almost all the casino bars will be showing basketball games, even at night, that weekend.

As previously stated, girls your age will have no problem getting in to clubs cheap and getting guys to buy you drinks.

I think PH is a good choice, younger vibe and good location.
