"Too hot" to do anything?

I know none of you can predict the weather, but the general idea of mid-June weather seems to be hot hot.

For those that have been to Vegas during summer months, did you find it hard to do anything during the day? Like, was it unbearable to walk from hotel to hotel and sight see? Did you find yourself spending more time at the pool?

I realize we all handle heat differently and weather is always different but I'm curious, so humor me!

It's just the desert, not the surface of the sun. HA-HA!-HA!!

Mid June isnt that hot, that is saved for July and Aug.

I suppose everyone tolerates temperatures differently but I spent 12 Summers in Las Vegas and never altered what I did because of the heat. Dont run a marathon mid day, drink water just common sense stuff it thats all.

The way some people have talked about Vegas in the summer (not on this forum), they've made it seem like it's the surface of the sun!

I went mid June last year and actually walked from Flamingo to Downtown midday and had no problem with the heat...even walking for short distances I felt fine.....then again I live in Florida where i'm used to it!!

But it's not unberable at all...I would imagine July & August to be much worse than June...

Mid June- average high-around 100 with a range from the 70s to 116. Chances are very good that it will be hot and sunny.

I have gone to Vegas during the summer for about 20 years. For many years I was there all of July AND all of August- and I am still alive! I have never let the heat prevent me from doing anything-including walking on the strip during the day.

. You just have to pace yourself and be prepared. Drink plenty of water- and then drink some more. There are plenty of people selling cold bottles of water for $1 on the strip and on the bridges- use them. If you find it is getting too hot while you are walking- duck into the nearest casino for a rest and a cool drink(preferably non-alcoholic. Alcohol is dehydrating). You do have to watch out for dehydration- it can sneak up on you since you will not feel yourself sweating. The air is so dry, the sweat immediately evaporates- but you ARE sweating and losing water. Wear a high number suntan lotion- even if you aren't at the pool. Sunglasses and a hat help. Walk slowly and give yourself plenty of time to get to wherever you are going.

When you are at the pool, try to find a shady spot and take frequent dips into the water. Sitting with the sun beating down on you can be brutal if it is hot enough.

It does cool off a bit after the sun goes down. The average low-low 70s. But it can just as easily be in the high 80s at night.

Many people find the casinos, shows and restaurants too cool because of the AC (but not me), so do bring a sweater or a light wrap with you just in case.

Even after all these years, I am still surprised when I take that first step out of the airport and that hot air hits me in the face.

I do know people who found Vegas just too hot in the summer. They tried it once but never returned in the summer months again.

The only time I am in Vegas is when its hot!! Really, we get up fairly early ( 7:30 to 8 am) go eat breakfast, play a little on the slots, then we head straight for the pool. Walking around during the day can be pretty brutal-especially if you are on the strip, but it can be done. I find it easier to casino hop downtown during the day simply because the casinos are much closer together and the canopy does filter that blazing direct sunlight a little.

IMHO, the heat of Vegas in mid summer is far more tolerable than someplace that is hot and humid. A couple of years ago, I was in the Caribbean in late July- its was by far away the worst heat I have ever experienced.

We went in June 2010 (prior visits were during July and August). We LOVED the weather in June last year. The days were definitely more tolerable compared to July/August and the nights were - probably the best outdoor temps I've experienced in my life.

I don't find June all that hot at all, and I've walked up and down the strip without any problem. Just drink water.

You know what they say, it's a DRY heat! :D

But imho it's really true - the lack of humidity makes the heat a lot more tolerable than it is here in the South, where it feels much worse, even if the temp is lower.

Mid-August though, is a different matter, and the heat made me want to stay inside and enjoy the a/c. I still don't find it unbearable, just unpleasant to walk around too much.

The only thing I won't do is sit by the pool. I don't know how people do it without getting heat stroke in the summer. As for walking the strip, I just pop into a casino a get a drink when it's too much.
