LV on the cheap

Going to LV on the first weekend of April with a bunch of girls. Staying at the Venetian. I was talked into it and paid more than I wanted to. Any ideas on how to make the most of my money while I'm there.

Any food ideas?

It's not too hard to do Vegas on the cheap. I've done Vegas on about $100 a day. If you don't gamble much, drink much, and don't care much for what you eat, you'll be okay. I suggest scouring around on this forum to find out about various coupons floating around on the web and discount codes for Restaurant.com.

If this is your first time you will probably spend most of your time checking out all of the different properties.

What kind of trip do the rest of the bunch think it's going to be? Just lay by the pool, or spa/shows/fancy restaurants/clubs, etc?

You can survive on $20/day, but if that will put you at odds with the rest of the group the advice might be different...

Go to Walgreens under the Venetian and buy snacks, sandwich stuff, drinks, ect...you can save alot by not eating out for every meal.

Stripburger seems to be popular on restaurants.com. You can the buffet of buffets at Harrahs properties - all the buffets you can eat in 24 hrs. Lots of fast food available. Downtown may be cheaper also. have fun

How many nights are you going and what is your estimated budget for food/drinks/gambling? Also- how much out of that budget do you anticipate to gamble?

I think $100/day or even less is very doable but this depends on what your friends want to do. Are they aware of your budget? If they all want to go to PRIME and you can't afford $100 for a meal, that's gonna cause arguments. I would talk with your friends about what they expect to do on the trip. For example-if they want to enjoy a spa treatment, go with them. Just buy a 'day pass' for around $30 at most spas and enjoy all the included amenities while they get their $150 spa treatment :)

There is a food court close to the Venetian that will help with Breafast and lunch especially. Dinners can be had at low/moderate restaurants like Cheesecake Factory, Maggianos, and Stripburger.

I wrote the following "guide for the budget gambler" a while back. Most if it is geared towards a downtown stay (as it is much more affordable than the strip, but alot of the info is relevant wherever you stay.

There are cheap beers and frozen margaritas and a food court at Casino Royale which is close to the Venetian, the free Big Elvis show at Bill's Gambling Hall which also has fairly cheap drinks and a decent coffee shop that's not too expensive. Listen to the dueling pianos in Harrahs for free.

All the info you need is out there on the net, it is very easy to do Vegas on the cheap. I do it 4 times a year on average, do your resarch.

2 McDonalds dollar menu meals + 12 beers at Casino Royale = $20, how cheap dya want it lol.
