Can anyone tell about Lake Las Vegas?

Can anyone tell me about the hotels at Lake Las Vegas? How far away is it from the airport? The Strip?

Ritz Carlton by far is the nicest hotel in the state of NV. Nothing in LV can come close to it.

Hyatt is excellent. The service is better than anything on the strip, and the hotel is as nice as any on the strip.

Same can be said for the Montelago as Hyatt.

The Villas are high end condo type units.

In short Lake Las Vegas seperates the "haves" from the "have nots". Luxury taken to the Nth level. You will find a lot of celebs living and staying out there as it is well removed from the spot light of the strip and affords privacy. Great place for golfers who can afford it, and others wanting a resort with lake activities. Some decent high-end shopping and dinning. There are two casinos out there at Hyatt and Montelago Village

The distance is the same from the airport or Strip, about 20 to 40 minutes depending on traffic on I-215, or about 20 miles.

We went there for a day trip;beautiful...lovely...awesome...I just loved the vibe & atmosphere there...Told hubby when we hit Lotto..forget Vegas we're staying there for a week...Had lunch on the outside patio at Como's ..very nice..Strolling the plaza, shops and walking around the lake after lunch was very nice..they had a beautiful horse & carriage to take you around the grounds also a petting zoo set up for the little ones..boat rides etc..very nice...If I could I would definately stay here....It was about 1/2 hr. ride from the strip..

HB You need to see more of LV If you think its where the halves go!

I'm from the midwest, its not a Lake its backwater. Very over rated, Bellagio, Wynn & 4 seasons are much better.

Was designed to be exclusive, however its too far out. So now since the smart rich people said "Why do I want to live that far away & on backwater" NOW they have opened it to the lower/middle class to build homes. Go out there before the ganags move in liek they did in southern Highlands.

The properties may be fantastic once you get inside, but the "lake" appears to be more of a muddy man-made pond to me.

Most of area still looks likes it's under construction. I was very unimpressed with the whole concept from an outdoor landscape perspective.

Yes, the properties are beautiful and VHB may be right about the Ritz Carlton. I like the Moroccan decor at the Hyatt, and views are beautiful. But the lake is often a stagnant smelly disaster. One of my friends was a manager at the Hyatt and he regularly joked about the stench.

We stayed two nights at the Montelago condos and two nights at Paris Feb 11-15. Although our primary purpose was hiking, we did want to spend some time seeing the strip. We expected to do some driving so the distance (20 minutes or so) between them didn't bother us. We did want to be able to get decent food after a day out hiking.

This is how it broke out for us: The Montelago gave us a 6th floor condo with a living/dining area, fairly well-equipped kitchen, nice bedroom and a bath with a deep tub (great for soaking sore muscles!) The lake/pond was certainly pretty and too far away to smell if indeed that was a problem. Staff was helpful and directed us to great grocery shopping so we could eat on the trail. We even cooked one evening. There is a full range of dining from pizza to upscale. The casino has a pleasent restaurant downstairs and the casino itself was much less smokey than any other we visited. The Lake Mead Recreation area was a mile away. This cost us $260 for the 2 nights.

The "premiere" room at the Paris was nice enough, overlooked the tower and Bellagio fountains and smelled a bit like smoke. The gentleman who checked us in was surly. Nothing to write home about except it was indeed on the strip, in the middle of everything. These two nights cost us $478. No question in my mind where we'd stay again.

Through Expedia which had the best rates at the time. (Do a hotel search and continue until you can type in their name. The expedia site gives a pretty representative view of the property.) Do look for the grocery about 1 mile from the freeway entrance (just north of the hospital.) Has a great selection of prepared foods in case you want to eat in with a minimum of fuss and much less expense!
