Rio or IP

I know the easy answer is Rio, but let me set this up. Staying one night (then next three in Luxor). All my friends staying at Mandalay Bay. Basically just a place to crash night one. IP gets points because it's on the strip, thus much easier to get around on foot/shuttle/monorail/etc that night/next morning. Rio gets points because, well, because it's not IP.

Cost is the same. Which would you choose?

I hate to say it, but I am leaning IP for convenience...but I am open to alternatives...

IP. Rio offers nothing. Stay on the Strip. Go with your gut.

Haha, we have a Deluxe booked and I thought about getting a Deluxe Luv Tub, but didn't like the idea of getting in a Tub that is even named for all the "Luving" that it may encourage by all the guests staying in the room

No, it's definitely not! I consider Bellagio to be center strip. Stratosphere is 2.7 miles from Bellagio, and after 0.7 miles you are walking in the midst of nothing, no hotels, no shops, etc. Luxor, however is only 1.2 miles (less than half) and it is a walk that is in the midst of everything, MGM Grand, Excalibur, New York, Monte Carlo, M&M World, City Center, Hawaiian Marketplace and Planet Hollywood.

The walk from Luxor to Center strip is nothing!

My sister recently stayed in one of their nicer rooms and thought it was OK. It didn't have a love tub. It was in the main hotel. It wasn't in the little addition in the back. She said the room was fine and that it was clean. Not fancy, but OK.

Do know that the "Luv Tub" rooms also have mirrored ceilings. Yes, I'm serious.
