Is it worth it to eat downtown?

We didn't make it to "Old Vegas" during our last trip and plan to go there on our upcoming trip during our last night in Vegas.

Are there any good places to eat downtown (not too worried about price - more so concerned about quality), or should we eat on the strip and then head over there?

I realize this is a fairly subjective question because everyone has different tastes when it comes to food so just share your experiences/opinion!

Thank you!

Absolutely worth it but I love downtown anyway for anything! For a nice dinner, The Flame in the El Cortez, Hugos, Pasta Pirate in the Cal as well as Redwood Grille in the Cal. For diner/cafe type, Market Street Cafe in the Cal, Magnolia's in4 Queens and the Cafe Cortez in the El Cortez.

There are lots of good places to hit downtown. The only question is what are you looking for.

I would also suggest Hugo's. The salad cart and chocolate covered fruit come with the meal.

The only thing I don't like about Downtown for eating is the lack of choice. It's all relative I guess; Downtown Las Vegas probably has more restaurants than some other entire cities have.

But I feel like I have to plan, make a reservation, or eat early down there if I want anything decent. Not like the Strip, where if the 15 restaurants in one place don't suit you just go next door and look at the other 15. :)

Thanks guys, I think we will try Hugo's, and after reading your response, Irish, we'll make a reservation. I'm a bit of a planner so don't mind having set reservations planned...

I liked Hugo's, but I liked Vic and Anthony's at Golden Nugget even more. Enjoy!

How far is downtown from the Wynn Hotel? Do you just take a taxi?
