Best Way of Getting Around Vegas

We will be in Vegas in less than two weeks and other than walking and taxis, what is the best method of transportation to get around. Are the buses easily accessible from the hotels on the strip or is there a lot of walking involved just to get to the stops.

It would be easier to help if you mentioned where you would be coming from, and where you're trying to go...

The "best" way to get around, just my opinion, is a private car and driver. :)

The Downtown-Strip express bus is extremely useful for going between those two places. There are not many stops on the strip, but they are well placed. It is much faster than the Deuce.

The Deuce is good, too, especially for getting from one casino to the next on the strip.

If you are staying at New York New York, the Westcliff-Airport express stops right at their reception entrance. It's also, then, convenient for the Trop, the Excalibur, and the MGM Grand. It then heads downtown via 1-15, so it's very efficient for getting from the airport to downtown.

Look at the RTC site: http://www.rtcsnv.com/. There are plenty of useful routes that cross the strip that would be useful for getting to the Rio/Palms or the Hard Rock, for example.

If you have a smartphone, you can get a public transit app (I used one on my Windows Phone) that consults Google's transit search and does a great job of telling you the best way to get from point A to point B and synchs with the time you want to leave or arrive.

Walking around the strip - a good pair of shoes or the monorail

Everything else, rent a car. Will save you a lot if you plan to go a lot of places off strip and taking a cab.

The Las Vegas Valley is a big area not knowing where you are trying to get to makes it hard to give a good answer.

We will be staying at Caesars Palace and going to Old Las Vegas and possibly a few shopping areas; also just trying to find places to eat. This is my first time to Vegas. Thanks.

"Old Las Vegas" is an appellation not used here - that area is known as downtown or Fremont Street.

Cabs are usually easiest, but an earlier post mentioned some of the popular bus services that travel downtown.

Along the Strip, it's your feet.

Have a fantastic first - but not last - visit.

Don't forget to take advantage of the free trams as well! There are three separate trams along the strip. There is one between the Mirage and TI. The second runs from Ballagio, City Center/ the crystals and Monte Carlo. Lastly one runs from Excalibur - Luxor and Mandalay Bay.

If you're staying at Caesars, definitely take avantage of them, especially if you're cruising the strip.

first trip we took taxis and monorail and feet. Exhausted. Second trip rented a car - amazing freedom to go anywhere we want and be rested when we got there. Next trip coming up - we are renting a car.
