Cool hotel on strip for family

We are 3 families planning a 3 -day trip in Vegas, with the kids (ages 10-16). We know it is short, but we just want them to see it. Which hotels would be nice for the family to stay in?(We would like to stay on the strip)

I assume you are aware that Las Vegas was not exactly designed for family vacations/holidays? The kids can enjoy the pool areas, go to restaurants and attractions, but they cannot be in casinos at all. If you are planning to be in Vegas in summer months, then stay where there are good pool areas. Two of the best are Mandalay Bay and the MGM.

" Cool hotel on strip for family"

Explain cool hotel?

When are you going?

How much do you want to spend per night?

Do the families have more then 1 or 2 children?

Thanks, yes I know it's not exactly a kids-place, but we are touring the USA and want to show the kids Las Vegas as well, as we are close when at the Grand Canyon.

We were looking at MGM, but is it close enough to walk the Strip (to all the famous hotels) from there?

Cool hotels in Vegas are the least family friendly places to stay. They want to attract hip twentysomethings, not families.

As gabby said, look at places that have great pools that will appeal to kids. But the Strip very possibly isn't best for you guys. Perhaps look at staying at a more family friendly place off-Strip and renting cars.

Yes, you should stay on the strip as it is a short trip and your kids will love seeing all the sights. It really does depend on your budget though. My kids love the other end of the strip - Venetian, Palazzo hotels, they have bigger standard size rooms compared to some of the others.

Thanks Scottylass... I'll be checking for some specials. We still do have time as we are only leaving the end of the year.

Yes, the MGM is a great choice. It has kid-friendly shops and restaurants, a great pool and a good location. The nearby Excalibur is another good choice if you want something a bit cheaper.

I guess close is relative. The Grand Canyon is 5 hours by car from Vegas.

Yip damama, for us, this is 'çlose' if one consider how far we must travel to be in the USA.

TheDiceMan , by 'cool' I mean nice for kids to enjoy without gambling - with nice things to see, shops, restaurants, etc. We'll be there in Dec, don't want to spend more than $50-70/night and we'll have 6 children with us.

" We still do have time as we are only leaving the end of the year."

I didnt want to rush your answer since I didnt know when you were coming so then having a nice pool is moot since your coming during the winter months.

$50 to $60 a night is not realistic depending on what days your going to be there, at those prices your looking at a very Low end hotel that will not be cool.

Step yup your budget some and look into the Mirage, Venetian and PH, these Hotels are all Mid strip in the middle of all the action, the Venetian and Planet Hollywood have malls attached olus your also close to the Forum shops.

you can take a look at some of the hotels here
