LOW Rolling my way back to vegas on sunday for 5 nights

My Wife and Me are leaving for Vegas on Sunday evening this will be my 21st Trip and her 10th. We are low budget gamblers. Usually we visit Vegas 2 or 3 times a year but always on a budget. We are each taking $75US per day for our meals and our gambling, $350 total each for the trip. (I know some people spend that on one meal)

- Got our airfares for under $300 for the two of us out of Detroit on spirit airlines.

- We booked Imperial Palace for $15 a night + $15 to upgrade to the Big Tub Room.

My wife and myself each have purchased the Las Vegas Advisor and American Casino Guide coupon books. When in Vegas we mainly stick to playing the penny slot machines and using the 2-4-1 Buffets that we get in our coupon books.

We usually have pretty good luck with all the free slot play coupons available to us in the coupon books. So we don't have to touch our money untill later on in the trip.

Hoping to hear from other Vegas travelers that goto vegas on the cheap, and what sort of things they do to stretch there dollar.

We stayed in our first luv tub room in april. It had a coffee maker to our surprise, that could save you if you like coffee. We had a 2 for 1 at KGB at Harrah's. The bill was $23. It was plenty of food and very good. If you have been there 21 times think you know all the tricks. Glad to hear everyone does not thousands. Sometimes it seems like that on TA.

We are always on a budget but still completely enjoy everything we do without feeling like we are missing out on things we can't afford to do.

- I love the hotels themselves. I can spend an entire trip just walking through the strip hotels and looking at the inside and outside of them. I love to see the themes of the hotels and see how the theme plays out inside. It's sad that most of the hotels are trying to do away with the themes, but they are still there you just have to look a bit harder. Sightseeing at hotels is also free, so no extra money spent there, and you can take advantage of the free attractions as you go like the Lion Habitat, fountains, volcano, etc. We walked from Mandalay Bay all the way to Stratosphere one trip. At 3am we walked from Excalibur to the Las Vegas sign, in the rain! We rarely spend any money on attractions and have never been to a club.

- We only buy 1 drink a day. We start our mornings out by stopping at either Fat Tuesday or Coyote Ugly and purchasing a daquiri in a large souvenir cup. For the rest of the trip we just get our cup refilled in the morning at the refill price. The rest of the drinks we get while gambling at the nickel video poker machines and just pay the tip.

-We either eat breakfast and dinner or buffet lunch and snack. If we choose to eat breakfast, we will eat late (11am) at the hotel cafe which comes out to about $40 for the both of us including tip. Then we don't eat again until the evening where we stop at the food court and grab some McDonalds or Quiznos for about $15-$20 for both of us. If we choose a buffet, we might grab a small snack in the morning like a donut, then we eat lunch around 2-3pm. The buffet is cheaper at this time and the lines are not as long because it's later than the normal lunch time. For 2 of us at our favorite buffets (Carnival World or Spice Market) we usually spend about $50 including tip. Then later on if we are hungry we will do the food court thing for around $20.

-We stay in an Excalibur widescreen room to save money but still get a nicely updated room.

-We make sure to stop at the Television City place in MGM Grand where they ask you to watch a show and review it. If you fit their profile they might even ask you to join an hour-long discussion group and pay you $50. This has happened to us 3 times.

-We budget $100/day each for gambling, $75/day for food and $75/day for attractions. My husband does this on purpose so that we always bring a good $400 or so back with us.

I know this isn't as good as your budgeting, but it gives us exactly what we need to have a good time.

Guess that budget makes me a high rolling low roller. The main thing tho is having a great trip and spending what you feel comfy with.

You said you use the Las Vegas coupon books for free slot play, don't you have to be getting a new card to get the free slot play?

We went to Ellis Island during our (actually my first trip) vegas trip..couldn't beat the $7.99 steak dinner...that's on the cheap!! and it was one of our best meals in vegas...as we did not go to buffets or fine dining restaurants.

Can always try www.restaurant.com for coupons on restaurants..they currently have a lot of places at MGM and also Hash House at IP

Wmac3 - No... there are certain coupons that are only good for new members for free slot play.. But many of the casinos offer free slot play to current members as well.
