NEVER AGAIN. Just back from Vegas, some observations.

Well i closed the other thread as it was turning into a full blown TR and thats not what i really wanted to do mainly as there is so much we done in our 8 days/nights and i am struggling to remember things as they happened. Plus i typed loads out last night and lost it all due to site maintenence.

I will copy and paste the first installments and finish up here.

No no, i don't mean i wont be back infact i will be back as soon as the summer heat leaves.

But i will never be back taking 6 newbies and will not be staying at IP anytime again soon.

More just some observations as opposed to a full blown TR, we had an awesome time but 8 nights in Vegas takes some remembering!

Big sorry to Bikerbear, i never made the M&G we planned. Not sure what happened that night, too many Ellis Island stout beers i guess.

Big hello and thank you to TCrawford, it was awesome meeting you dude and i hope my craps lessons helped you win big lol. Your gift to me came in very handy!

Flights from Glasgow via Philly with US. Crap planes, crap staff, crap food and no free beer.

Met by Presidetial Limo fella (i forget his name but he was a nice guy) who had 4 bottles of cheapo champers in the limo for us. Stoped at sign and liqour store. By the time we got to IP i was almost drunk, tipped the driver accordingly. Highly recommended service.

No line at IP, check in was a breeze and found our rooms on the 12th floor no problems. We had requested the rooms on the 2nd floor that walk out on to the pool but the wanted an extra $50 per night so we declined. In hindsight probably my best decision of the holiday!

Quick shower and hit the casino this is where the first wrangling competition happened, i got everyone to join Total Rewards and tried to drum into them how the cards work while gambling. However as soon as they got the free $5 slot play BANG, they all disappeared in every direction.

Took my around 30 minutes to round everyone up but i was in Vegas and i had a cocktail in my hand so it wasn't too bad, this time anyhow.

Like i say its all a bit blurry but we headed towards The Venetian via Harrah's and Casino Royale first night. It was Memorial Sunday and it was really busy also this was the night of my youngest sons 21st birthday and we had not really planned any special meal or anything and we ended up in McDonalds as most people weren't even hungry with excitement i guess.

Back to Casino Royale for some more craps action while some of the crew hit the sack (22 hour journey). Woke up in one of my sons buddies rooms (twin beds btw) next moring around 9 am. I have no memory of events post 11pm ish.

Tried the IP buffet next morning, now ive had lots of buffets in Vegas and this was by far the worst NEVER AGAIN#1

Spent some time by the pool, im not a heatseeker so i managed about 30 minutes, had a quick swim and about 30 seconds in the hot tub (it was like sitting in a giant pan of boiling water). Another 10 minutes on the sun lounger and i was cooked perfect.

The rest of the gang were loving it but the loud music coming out of a 1970's PA system and $10 drinks in plastic cups but it quickly took its toll on me so i went to seek out a bit of VP.

Lost to IP's crappy paytables but enjoyed plenty free drinks, the CW's are pretty rapid there, showered and went off to Casino Royale to meet TCrawford.

TC was a great fella, he had brought me a nice gift....... A old school Caesers fanny pack stuffed full of coupons. Thanks for that TC it came in very handy as the discreet fanny packs zip on the one i was wearing bust the very same day. Also the RC cert for Hash House came in very handy a few days later.

TC and i decided it was time for me to give him some craps lessons and we both left the table as winners with plenty CR beers on board. Im only sorry i never got to meet him again on my holiday (my fault due to to much daytime boozing!)

Left my new buddy and headed of to meet everyone else for the Big Elvis Show @ Bill's. Big E was as good as ever and everyone enjoyed his show, we all got our photo's taken with him.

Only disapointment was that the 99c Margarita's had gone up too $2 a shout, no biggie we all still had a great time.

We all headed over to Ellis Island for the BBQ via The Stage Door for a couple of dollar beers. The BBQ plate in EI was really good, an hour wait but that was no problem. We all had LVA and ACG coupons so all drinks in EI were free and the BBQ was 2-4-1. RESULT.

We headed to Bellagio to watch the fountains, wandered through Caesers, everyone got their medallions and the youngsters went to Carnaval Court for some $7 small cans of Bud, i went back to Casino Royale for some more craps action.

No idea what time i went to bed but i did wake up in my own bed this time with a decent wedge of cash in my fanny pack so i must have won at something? Eveyone else said the band at CC were really good.

Next day pretty much the same format except we ate at HH in IP, really good and you certainly get your moneys worth.

Gang split into small groups and we all met at The Sratosphere at 4 plus some other people from our small town who we had arranged to meet before we left for the happy hour ($20 for 3 hours of free drinks starting at 5pm).

This was my downfall that night, far to many margaritas and my plans to meet Bikerbear at the stage door at 10.30.

Really good deal at The Strat and would recommend it to everyone who likes a good booze up. Everyone done the disapearing act again, tried and failed to round 'em up and gave up.

Headed south towards Stage door and ended up at the craps table at CR yet again. This is where ny memory deserts me and have no idea what happened next, all i know is i woke up next morning with no money on me (i did only have around $100 on me when i headed to The Strat but i guess i must have lost it all).

I have a feeling i went back to IP for some more cash and just flaked on the bed, who knows? Not me!

BTW it looks like this is turning into a full blown TR again!

6. Re: NEVER AGAIN. Just back from Vegas, some observations.

The next few days were spent pretty much the same format for the crew, spending time round the pool (waste of Vegas time IMHO but each to their own) while i done my own thing as i was sick and tired of trying to keep everyone together.

This is how i found my new home from home in Vegas and that Home is The Western.

Man what a place, its cheapo heaven and some of the friendliest locals i have ever met. The draft beers at $1 a pop were by far the best drafts i have had in USA well maybe bar the Stouts at EI.

The rest of the gang didn't like it in there which is understandable and they roamed Fremont and other places without me.

I miss The Sahara but The Western is a close second for skinflints like me and im pretty much done with the strip now, im a downtown convert.

I stayed at The Gold Spike last trip and was fed up with bussing it back and forth to The Sahara but now its gone my new destination of choice is certainly downtown.

Played lots of VP, no big wins but no big losses either and when you have had enough gambling its great just to sit at the bar in The Western and enjoy the conversation with the locals, people just like me, truck drivers, taxi drivers and general workers on their day off.

Dollar craps was a lot of fun, dollar shots and dollar pints flowed freely, plus the info you can gather from the locals is invaluble.

The rest of the week was pretty much the same until Friday, 6 out of the 8 wanted to see The Hoover Dam and some canyony type scenes. No one wanted to sit on a bus for 5 hours to get to The Grand Canyon, no one wanted to pay top dollar for a flight to GCNP and i was adamant that we would not be getting ripped off by going to the West Rim so i through the free day trip to Laughlin into the mix, it was a winner.

I have said before that i never really wanted to go back to Laughlin but im glad i did, i hit for $397 on the very first slot i played on plus the gang seen the Hoover Dam for free and some canyon type landscapes. Everyone who went enjoyed the trip and 5 out of 6 of us came back winners.

The other 2 never came as they had tickets to see Love that night and wouldn't be back in time.

Got some beers for the return trip and landed at the Golden Nugget at 7pm with a nice buzz.

Ate at The Nugget buffet and it was very good, cruised Fremont Street and had another winning night.

hahaha I love this report, sounds like one of my reports.....

Again, I see this as the next script for the HANGOVER Pt.3

"had 4 bottles of cheapo champers in the limo for us. Stoped at sign and liqour store. By the time we got to IP i was almost drunk"....... "Woke up in one of my sons buddies rooms (twin beds btw) next moring around 9 am. This is where ny memory deserts me and have no idea what happened next, all i know is i woke up next morning with no money on me"

classic!

Well Saturday was upon us and the strip turned into pure bedlam again, me and one of the gang (another moneywise member) jumped on a bus and headed to North Las Vegas, joined all the players clubs that i hadn't previously joined and used various coupons etc. We went to Lucky Club, Silver Nugget, Jerrys Nugget and ended up back at DTTC and jumped on the Boulder Highway bus.

Hit Boulder Station, Eastside Cannery and The Longhorn, ended up back at Fremont Street to meet up with the rest of the crew about $100 up each from matchplays and free slot play etc.

Spent some more time in The Western and some guys doen the zip line.

Ended the night in Mermaids where i won around $90 on the slots and yep it paid me in nickels, one of the CW's scooped them all up for me ito several buckets, i went and weighed it in and gave the CW $10 for her troubles.

I must say this place has the best CW service ever, they were like vultures, as soon as your glass was almost empty they swooped. Strong drinks too!

My memory deserted me again but i know we headed back on The Duece and it took forever. Oh im informed that we ate at The Cal, i apparently wanted the Prime Rib deal, i have no idea if it was good or not?

Sounds like great fun. I also enjoy a stop at the Stage Door, not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it. Always meet some characters, and the barmaids outfits, not too bad either.

JNC

Great 'not quite a full blown' TR!

While we, as you can see from my TR, are clearly Strip Dwellers, I will have to pursuade the DW to give DT, and some off strip locations, another try on a future visit, if only to give the wallet a rest from the daily whuppin!
