we only have 3 days in vegas but want to explore the place a fiar bit. we are not big gamblers and will have a budgetof easily 2000 dollars for the trip.

some questions i would like answered if anyone is kind enough.

1. airport to mgm grand. how much should the fair be? i've been told its a close distance so dont want to be ripped off.

2. clothes oulets. which is the best one to visit for cheap deals on ralph lauren, gant etc?

3.decent places to eat. decent steakhouse, decent buffets, decent mexican food and decent rib places would be good. oh and breakfast also?

4. i cant see us bothering with a nightclub but we would like a drink. how much roughly is a beer or jack d and coke etc?

5. is the stratosphere worth going on?

6. is the mgm a good hotel. and what are its plus points?

thanks in advance.

sorry i could of written this better but i've just done a 12 hour shift and halfasleep haha.

There is a airport to strip hotel taxi fare guide that I'm sure someone on here can link you to.

For ribs try BB Kings. Steak depends on your budget, there are some really great steak places but they are really expensive.

Everyone should go to the top of the stratosphere once in my opinion.

MGM is a good hotel, large pool area. Some people think too big.

i stayed at the mgm grand last year and i loved it ,,, beers are about 6 dollars a bottle in the bars jd and coke will be about 10 ,, check out the outback steakhouse for good food without the frills ( still great service ) ,,, enjoy your first trip to vegas im now planning my 3rd , you will get the vegas bug and soon be back , spend some time on here and do some research to find where you want to go to save time when you get there ,,,, enjoy ,, viva las vegas !!!

Lots of questions - I'll try to answer some

1. Taxi from Airport to MGM should be around $14 excluding tip

2 Clothes Outlets - check these websites

www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp…

www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp…

http://www.thefashionshow.com/

3. Decent places to eat - too numerous to list without knowing your budget - decent means different things to different people. A wide range of options from food courts to high end restuarants are available.

4. Drink prices will vary from casino to casino but probably in the $5 to $10 range - remember they are complimentary when playing slots but tip the cocktail waitress a minimum of $1 per drink.

5. Stratosphere - never done it but with only 3 days I think there are better things to do. Strat is a bit out of the way.

6. MGM - Never stayed there but it has a good location although it is massive - others might be able to comment further.

our budget should work out £500 pound per day. then money for the clothes shopping. i think that will be more than enough.

oh resort fee's? what does this mean and if i have to pay them what is the cost?

Fare about 10 to 15 dollars, plus tip. Be sure to tell driver "no tunnel" The tunnel is on the expressway, if you go thru that, you know they're longhauling you. Most say that a trip from airport to any Strip hotel should never go thru tunnel.

I don't do outlets much, at least not in Vegas, others will answer that for you.

"Decent" is not enough info to give you restaurant recommendations. Prices in Vegas can be really high. Do you have price ranges per person in mind for meals? You can get a steak for as little as 10 bucks or as much as 60.

Drinks, if you buy them straight out can be pretty high. Las Vegas is geared towards gamblers. If you don't want to pay alot, stop in at convenience places on Strip (like ABC store or pharmacies and get cokes or water there. Beer is pretty high except at a few lower end casinos where they have specials, you'll see signs. Bill's, O'Sheas, and Casino Royale come to mind for cheaper beer.

However.....if you're willing and careful, you can get "free"drinks if you are playing a slot machine. You should tip the waitress a dollar at least for each drink, but that's a heck of a lot less than the 6 to 8 dollars they will charge you if you just walk up to the bar. The careful part comes in where you don't spend what you would be saving sitting at the slot machine before they get back with your drink, ha ha! I have heard people say they look out for a waitress coming to an area, quickly sit down at a machine, stick in a 20, order when she comes by, hit the low bet a couple of times, tip her the buck when she comes back, cash out (you get a ticket, so easy to cash out), and you're done.

Strat is only worth going to if you wish to go up in the tower and have an excellent view of the Strip or if you want to do the rides. No great site otherwise.

MGM is a great hotel. It's gorgeous inside and has a huge casino. It has several top notch restaurants and is close to several other places connected by bridges and trams. The only downside is that it's located on the South end of the Strip. Although there's lots to do and see, the "main" part of the Strip is the center and it's a pretty good walk from there.

thanks immek. our budget (2 of us) should work out about 750 dollars per day maybe a bit less. we plan on eating in one top restaurant the rest can just be decent places. buffet in the morning. snack in the afternoon and nice meal in the evening.

from what people have said so far the strat may be a waste of valuable time as we only really have 2 and a half full days there.

"for breakfast try the room service menu"

I would consider room service to be an expensive option for breakfast.

Buffet -

For your first visit you should try one buffet (your choice of breakfast or dinner) and the buffets at Cosmopolitan (near to MGM) and Wynn (opposite end of strip but close to Fashion Show Mall) are normally well recommended.

Resort Fees - These are around $20 per room per day + tax but it might be included if you bought a package from a UK tour operator. Will be extra if you booked room direct with MGM.

There is a restaurant in the MGM called Fiamma, it is one of my favorites. The lobster nocci and the donut desert are great!
