Husband hates Las Vegas - help!

Trying to plan Labor day weekend trip to Las Vegas to meet up with some good friends. My spouse doesn't like to travel, doesn't like crowds, but has agreed to go (he is a bit of a curmudgeon!) I am trying to minimize his expose to the Las Vegas craziness and still have a great time.

Is it absolutely crazy to go on Labor day weekend?

Am thinking about staying at the Four Seasons (oh the sacrifices I make for love :) It looks a bit less chaotic. I have stayed on this end of the strip and am familiar with the location. Our friends will by staying at THEhotel. Will the Mandalay Bay pool be unbearable if we want to spend time there in the early morning?

Yes, you couldn't have picked a much worse time than Labor Day weekend. Las Vegas is going to be an absolute zoo, and Mandalay Bay will be no exception. Especially the pool. Don't let your husband anywhere near it.

Under normal circumstances I would recommend that you consider Mandarin Oriental, but if your friends will be at THEhotel Four Seasons would obviously work better. At least he will have their pool to escape to, but I'm not sure if that will even be quiet that Saturday.

But by Monday things should get back to normal, and I'm sure hwe will appreciate the serenity of Four Seasons.

I love LV but it is not the favorite of my partner so I make sure we get a really nice room as he will be spending time there reading and watching tv. He likes the restaurants and a little sightseeing, a few of the sports books and that's it. I would also make sure whereever you are staying has an adequite number of cable channels too.

I agree with ktinca, it's a very bad time to go if he does not like crowds.

I wish you luck in your decision ;)

Good luck, Labor Day weekend is crazy in Vegas. For a quiet stay, maybe you should have booked the Riviera. Nobody goes there anymore lol.

You could always send hubby on a fishing trip for the weekend with a few of his friends.....and head to Vegas solo and meet up with your friends there. Hubby will be happy I'm sure not to suffer the Vegas extremes....and you will be happier not to suffer hubby moaning all weekend. It's a win-win.

Good luck.

This is going to be a challenge if your husband doesn't like crowds. Labor Day week-end is going to be crowded, no matter what! There is just no way the crowds can be avoided unless he stays in the room.

However, since it will only be for a few days, he will survive. Maybe he won't be happy, but he will manage somehow. Perhaps you can plan on having at least some of your meals at some of the less hectic/more upscale restaurants. It may cost more, but it may be worth the extra money.

Has your husband ever been to 'Vegas?

The reason I ask is that I, an over the hill married man, also don't like to travel, don't like crowds, and am more than a bit of a curmudgeon. I prefer to stay home over all but two activites.

One of which is going to 'Vegas every year to meet up with some old friends.

'Vegas isn't just another crowded city. It's a state of mind.

The Four Seasons is the perfect place to stay. I have the same type of husband... but he is totally happy at the FS. Relaxed pool scene, Fitness Center, no resort fees, complementary cappuccino in the AM... no casino, and probably the BEST way to escape the Labor Day crowds.
