We are a 60ish couple who have been going to Caesars off & on for the past 26 years. Small players who get nothing compd. Got a great rate on a room in the Palace Tower (we prefer this Tower cause we are pool people). I booked months ago and when the rate dropped even further cause of a promo, Reseravtions changed it. At check-in I asked about an upgrade & was offered what the guy called a petite suite for $40/night extra at the end of the hall with the two bathrooms, double shower head etc. In fact, these are the Premium rooms vs the "Deluxe" rooms per their website & I told the guy so cause we have had the rooms before. Nevertheless, I agreed to the extra $ cause it was my birthday & our anniversary & we really liked these rooms. Get to the room, not what we paid extra for. Long story short, after a big mixup, being very stressed & kinda losing it, we got the room we wanted at the end of the hall & the upgrade charge was waived.
Ate at a new place for us Beijing Noodle #9 a couple of times which was very good. Small portions but very good. Dinner @ Spago one night - very good, The Palm in the Forum Shops which was excellent and Neros one night which was just OK. Steak @ the Palm was much better. Lunch one day was Cheesecake Factory which we thought was very good. A friend took us to The Cracked Egg for breakfast one morning which was very good. Local joint about 20 min from the Strip to the West & South
Highlight for us was getting a cabana @ the Neptune Pool. Without a cabana, no way could we have stayed out from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM - too freaking hot. Cabana rentals have changed a lot since we first started with them. It used to be you paid like $300 for a cabana. Then you ordered drinks or food or whatever & that was extra. So I asked how much for a cabana. Was told $100 for the cabana for the day and a minimum $250 for food & beverage. So it was $350 but that included $250 for food & beverage that you ordered. WTF? I thought this was a heckuva deal but I suspect that the price changes daily and know for a fact it is much more on the weekend. For example, a Cabana rental @ the Venus Pool (where we used to get one...lol) was $500 for the cabana plus a mimimum of $1,000 for food and beverage or a total of $1,500 for the day. Uh...thanks but we passed. So we took one on Monday @ the Neptune pool and didn't even use the full $250. Ok...still cheaper than sitting in the Casino all day and we got fed and looked after very well.
Gambling. There was no Let It Ride table until the evening of 08.01 - something about a baccarat tourney. Played some slots & shot some craps but no biggie either way. We never get lucky at the machines.
Flights were great & we ended up with 3 seats for the two of us both ways - I guess that was our biggest win...lol.
Oh yeah, the lineup at McCarran for cabs upon arrival sucked. Huge & in the heat.
