OMG- Is the lounge at El Cortez closed for remodel?

I just saw that it is closed till Sept being remodeled as the Parlour Lounge...??!!

I agree that it needed some "refreshing" and it will be great to have a newer look, but I guess Martini Madness is only available in the other casino bar during the remodel?? I just don't like it there as much- and I fear they did not transfer the world's best martini maker , Scott , to that bar for the duration... does anyone know if they did? The other bartenders just don't have his magic touch in my opinion...

I may cry if scott is gone, he made best! The Parlor is supposed to open in September, I just hope they keep that awesome hh martini menu going. Last trip they added a new "vintage" menu, they were not as cheap, but still made with top shelf liquors.

I am thrilled to report that Scott is alive and well at El Cortez- temporarily working out of the bar in the hotel lobby and still mixing those amazing martinis- I had the blue Cabana martini ( with Curacao) and the one that is mojito like with lime and mint another day- both wonderful- I think he said the price had gone up $1 , but with BOGO at Martini Madness(from 5-7 , even on Sunday) who cares- and we paid with comps anyway..

Scott is on vacation this week, but said he thinks and hopes the new glammed up bar next to the Flame will be open shortly after his return- hopefully so, as seating is very limited at his temporary home and his many fans pretty much fill the stools ...

Scott really is the best! He's the only bartender who knows how to make the Chocolate martoonis "the old way" - the way they used to be before the manager changed the menu a couple years ago. And now I see Pook says they've got a new "vintage" menu. Well thankfully Scott knows what the customers love and mixes his drinks to perfection every time.

Looking forward to seeing the new bar but hope that it's not too flashy and crazy. I loved that old Piano bar and it's old school vibe.

I can't wait to have another wonderful drink at the El Co! While I will miss the ol Piano bar, I hope the Parlor carries a good vibe as well.

We'll be at the El Co for two nights next week. I'll try to report on the status when I return.

When I was there in July, you couldn't see a thing that was being done. It was all behind those temporary walls they put up when remodeling. I did see Scott at the lobby bar but I didn't see the other bartender that mixes a good martini, Dean I think it is. They seem to keep the same bartenders at the casino bar which may be due to the clientele, keeps them in line.

Thank you 16guage! I'm eager to hear your input when you return.

I'll be downtown at the end of this month. Will be meeting up with another TA member & celebrating her husbands birthday and my Dad's birthday. Since the piano bar is closed it's good to know we can still find Scott at the Lobby bar. Hopefully we can find some room to hitch up and have some fine beverages before dinner.

OOOH, glad it will be open and Scott will be back in October when I get there, those lemon drop martinis are to die for, after drinking 6 one night I thought I was going to die, then I was afraid I wouldn't...hehe.
