Made it to MSP airport without any issues, got boarding passes printed out (no line, bonus!), breezed through 1st class security. We checked out flight, on time for departure at 4:00pm.

Time for lunch! Some food and a couple of waitress 'would you care for the LARGE' size drink?".... me "Of course!" drinks later and we were ready to wait for our plane. PERFECT timing, we sat down for a few minutes then they called 1st class boarding.

On board, in seats 3C/F. Got our first complimentary drinks, and settled in for the flight. Nice first class service, food and drinks. A few more drinks, a fresh chocolate chip cookie, and a hot towel and we were in VEGAS! Love that city!

We arrived on time, and only had our carry on's. Our driver from presidential limo, Adele, was at baggage claim to pick us up and bring us to Palazzo after getting my rose and drinking our bottle of bubbly.

Checked in for Palazzo prestige level on 23rd floor, another glass of champagne, and off to our room to drop off the bags (at our room on 24th floor) and get back to the prestige lounge for munchies/cocktails.

The room was as we expected clean, spacious, comfortable! Back to the lounge until 8pm. It was a good thing drink service stops then because Jose, the bartender had a drink ready when I was only 2/3 through the one in hand. But hubby did enjoy me striking up a conversation with a California woman (and family) to his right....and he told me after the fact that she was 'toucher' when talking. Ha! He was SURE she was hitting on him. Made his day ;)

And then I did something I've never done before in Vegas....went to bed early! All the traveling (and drinking) had gotten to me, and I needed to sleep!

First full day in Vegas

Up Wednesday morning, and down to the lounge for the breakfast foods. I was hoping this would 'bring me around' a bit. And it did provide much needed nourishment, but I had picked up a sinus thing from my kids before leaving and that combined with drinking/dehydration from the previous day proved to be a bad combination. But I plugged away anyway!

This was to be the morning we were going to pick up a rental car and head to Mt. Charleston. At 8 am, 1 hour before I was supposed to pick up the car, I still felt like my reaction time on the road could be better so we said the heck with it, no car rental today.

So, downstairs to play! We played VP/slots until lunch time. Time to find 'Lagasse's stadium' to use my groupon deal. Good food, LOVED using the groupon. I'd never done that before, and our total after using groupon, with 2 sandwiches/fries and pops was $3. (and of course tipped on the full bill price).

Back up to the room after an afternoon tea stop at prestige (although we just grabbed some bottled waters, and hubby grabbed some of the candies available), freshen up and head downtown!

This was the day of the 'soft opening' for Plaza. Walking in everything was (as it should be) clean looking and clean smelling. New carpet smell! We played some there, with lots of employee training going on around us. And then back outside to head next door to Main St. Station.

When we really were into sitting for long hours at a time gambling (mostly hubby) a few years back, we'd stay/play at MSS. So, we always have to go back and play a bit. I did well that day there, and didn't lose my budget. Actually made up what I'd lost earlier in the day, and went back that evening with my whole daily budget yet. Before leaving there that evening I thought I'd have 1 drink, hoping it might not hurt.

Apparently my head/sinuses did not want that and the headache was back. Maybe a buffet would help? We got comped buffets at MSS and ate lots of things I thought would 'help'. Nope, that was the nail in the coffin. Now I was tired, full and with a headache. I needed to get over this, so once again back to strip and my bed in Palazzo...early. This bedtime was not acceptable to hubby, so he went and played downstairs for a few hours.

Awake and oh wait.....where's my hairbrush? Looked and looked and looked, can't find it anywhere. So, one 'mom bun' later and I am downstairs at the little shop by the elevators, no hairbrushes there. So, through the casino and out the door to the next door walgreens. Picked up a hairbrush and souveniers for the kiddies back home at grandma's house.

Back upstairs, showered, and down to the lounge for breakfast goodies (the blueberry muffins are YUMMY!)

Husband HATES heat, and we're in Vegas...in August. So, we walked through every possible indoor location to get anywhere. Mirage (where we picked up our pearl level cards), over to forum shops at Caesar's and through the casino, then through Bellagio (after picking up our CarrotTop tickets for tonight's show), then finally our destination.

Now, lets do the Cosmopolitan deal! Pretty good deal as we were planning to do some playing this day (and always figure in not winning). Hubby's first $100 didn't last long, I had a good VP machine that was hitting lots, so mine lasted a while longer. But, alas, it too did run out and went to retrieve the freeplay. Ended up playing for several hours and only down $50 for the day for me at this point (hubby ended up even) so a good deal indeed. And, due to several recommendations on tripadvisor, I HAD to try the chocolate martini. YUM!!!!! SO GOOD! I only had 1 as I didn't have plans of repeating yesterday's headache/early bedtime.

By 2pm it was time to eat again! Across the street to Cabo Wabo @ Planet Hollywood with another groupon coupon. They brought out a huge bowl of tortilla chips and salsa when we sat down. We ordered the queso with ground beef to try with the chips. Yum! Hubby had the shrimp fajita, I had a chicken quesadilla, and a couple cokes. Good and very filling!

After walking through Paris/Bally's and over through Bill's we thought we'd scope out IP. It has been a LONG time since we've been in there. Hubby was intrigued by the rapid roulette (having never tried it before). After a quick explanation from Elvis in the celebrity pit, we each put in $20. I ended up even, hubby lost his (and lost his interest in the game).

Out of there and over to O'shea's where he really enjoyed the blackjack table/video machine last time we were there. After searching we didn't find it, must've been a money loser. We made our way back to our room, after a quick stop in Harrah's and Venetian to lose some more.

Changed and ready for the night, we stopped once again for drinks/snacks at prestige lounge. We've never seen the Sirens show at TI, and never had much interest in doing so. But from the prestige lounge with snacks and beverages in hand we watched the show. I have to think that was one of the most comfortable spots for viewing the show ;)

Down to the cab line to Luxor for the show. Great timing again, as we had just enough time to grab a drink at one of the little walk up bar things in Mandalay Place. 8:10 we went in to find our seats, after stopping to pick up a drink in the theater bar. Front row, seats 7 & 8 for Carrot Top. I went into this not knowing if (and honestly thinking) I wouldn't like it. I was happy to say I was wrong. Great show, shot of Crown from carrottop, and he even said to me 'wow, you're really pretty' when handing me my shot. I had an 'Ellen Griswold/Wayne Newton' moment. ;) LOL

After the show, we made our way up the strip toward Gilley's (with a stop at Excalibur for a drink). It was packed in Gilley's! I was kind of surprised since it was a Thursday night, and last November when my sister and I had gone on a Thursday it was really almost dead in there. We stayed for one drink, then back over to Venetian for Zefferino's late night happy hour. I love it in there, really quiet and laid back, small little bar area. We sat in a booth and the bartender gave us great service. 1am they were closing, so downstairs to Palazzo bar for more drinks and video poker. Had Will the bartender there, great service again (a recurring theme on this trip, with the exception of cocktail service everywhere). Hubby was going downhill quick (as it was 2AM, and he'd been drinking here and there all day). So up to bed.

FRIDAY, checkout/travel day

I was up relatively early, considering the 3 AM bedtime by the time I actually fell asleep). I got hubby motivated enough to join me for some breakfast at prestige lounge around 9, then he went back to sleep 'til checkout time and I went downstairs to play more.

Easy tv checkout, checked bags with bell then more playing, lunch at shake n burger in the venetian food court (hubby needed his greasy foods to recover). Played at Venetian a bit, hit a lot of bonuses on the 'Whammy' game there. Then time to catch the limo back to the airport.

1st class security, breezed right through, hubby got the xray machine (but so did a LOT of the men going through that day when we were there). Easy flight home, and super sweet flight attendent (the first one I've noticed that looks like she really enjoys her job), and early arrival at MSP.

Now back to reality.....until next time :)

Enjoying your TR.

When were you there? We were at Encore 8/20 to 8/23.

Yes it was very hot!

Have tried Cabo Wabo in Lake Tahoe but have not tried the Vegas one yet. We like Mexican food so we may try that next time. We enjoyed Isla at TI.

Carrot Top seems to get lots of positive reviews on TA, glad you enjoyed it.

It's handy having that Walgreens right next to the hotel. I walked over their from Encore on our last trip too for some odds and ends.

Keep it going.

cassley, we just missed you, we were there Aug. 23 - 26

We usually go during the winter months, but wanted to squeeze a trip in before the kids get back into school and all their activities/craziness that goes with it.

It's tough when you are not feeling well on a short trip, you begrudge the time spent resting and trying to recover.

Another fan of details here, so I appreciate the effort. Thanks for the report.

You really took advantage of the Prestige. I just don't think I'd take time out of the casino to go up there - lol - I'm such a loser. haha. :) Some people love that though. Thanks for sharing. I LOL'ed that you equated Carrot Top to Wayne Newton.

Thanks for a great TR. :)

Any extra details on the new Plaza?

Ah . . . once again I travel to Vegas through your eyes. I know it's been WAY too long since I've been there (or here at TA for that matter) when many/most of the places you reported on weren't there the last time I was . . . or perhaps I just didn't know about them.

Thanks for the report Momma . . . now . . . back to September/fall life!
