Downtown - steaks

Want to take friends out for 60th birthday for steak dinner while in Vegas - downtown. What would you recommend as the best -- good steaks, good view, good Vegas experience. Prefer not to break the bank. Dress will likely be jeans and polo shirt Will be there Sept. 12.

Best steak downtown? Vic & Anthony's

Best view? Binion's Steakhouse

Great service in old school environment? Hugo's Cellar

Based on price and unique to Vegas experience, I would pick Binion's or Hugo's.

Vic and Anthony's is great, but there are far better steakhouses on the strip, and there isn't anything remarkable about the setting.

Have dined at Vic n Anthony's and was one of the best steaks I have had in quite some time. No view though. View and price wise, I would consider Binion's.

Restaurant.com offers a decent cert for The Flame at El Cortez which was a decent meal and service, no view. But VnA would be my preference.

Agree with the other posters with your dates in mind.....but, when the new steak house at the Plaza in the old Firefly location (Oscar Goodman's steak house) opens in October it may well trump all of them for view, atmosphere and taste? Time will tell.

No view but side street walk..Triple George Grill..can usually even find a discount rate on restaurant.com for them..Steak was fantastic! Service was ok..lots of wood, more private seating..

Menu online ..maybe check them out?

The Flame at El Cortez offers a very good selection of beef in an old Vegas environment. Bugsy Siegal used to be an ownership partner in this oldest continually operated hotel-casino in Vegas.

If you're looking for a good value, this is it. The only view you're going to get is at Binions.

Another vote for Vic & Anthony's inside the Golden Nugget. The steaks are great but it is a little pricey.

The Flame at El Cortez has good steaks and decent prices (real good price if you use ACG coupon or R.com certificate). No view (other than the nature scenes on the TV monitors).

Binions Steakhouse is on the 24th floor so there is a great view but the prices will be in the $40 ish dollar range. The Flame prices are in the $25 plus range. The New York bone in strip is excellent and the sides are enough for 2 to 4 people. Have some drinks in the new Parlour Lounge next to the Flame before dinner.

Vic & Anthonys or Hugo's Cellar.

At Hugo's you do get the salad cart and the chocolate covered fruits included with the meal. It does have "character."

We enjoyed our steaks at Vic and Anthony's, Binions, and Hugo's Cellar. I think my favorite for a birthday party would be Binions. The food was good. It was less expensive than Vic and Anthony's. The service was good. It was not so loud that you couldn't visit with your party, and the view was great fun. Enjoy!
