Recommended restaurants at The Rio?

Hi,

Not long now before we go to Vegas!

We've booked to see Penn & Teller on a Wednesday and wondering whether to have a nice meal afterwards at the Rio or head back to the strip instead.

Are the restaurants any good at the Rio?

We're also thinking about having a drink at the Voodoo Lounge there before the show.

Thanks

D

Voodoo Lounge will be dead that early in the evening. Just make reservations there for dinner after P&T, then stroll up to the lounge and patio area for a drink or just to take in the view of the strip.

I would go over to the palms and eat there instead, voodoo lounge was not that great, especially for the price

Thanks for the replies folks.

I'll have a browse on the Palms website later.

It's hard work planning an intinerary - so much to see and do in so little time!

Out of curiosity when are you going? We see P&T on the 4th Oct so feedback would be good if you go before us!

Here is a reply I made on a similar post yesterday. I also agree that you should go to Voodoo Lounge after the show, and so have dinner 1st.

This is one of those instances where you should pay attention to what is said, and also what isn't. Note that the regulars on this board all talk about going next door to Gold Coast, and don't talk about Rio. Pay attention.

I will also add the Cortez Room (now being renovated) is very good at Gold Coast. And as mentioned the liquor store there is 2nd only to Orleans in price of all hotel/casino shops.

Gold Coast is a hotel/casino that attracts more locals than tourists, and everything there reflects that. The casino is MUCH BETTER than that at Rio when it comes to paytables and minimums, again to attract locals.

BTW: If you want fine dining, Alize at Palms is the best restaurant in the area.

I'm sorry I can't help with Rio restaurants. The only reason we visit Rio is to go to VooDoo Lounge, which is a must see.

I've been to Voodoo several times for dinner. It's fine for dinner, but the food is very average. I would eat there again for the atmosphere and the view... which is spectacular, btw.

Before hitting the Penn and Teller show, think about going to the Wine Cellar at the Rio. You can get flights of wine and cheese there. Very good selection of wines... and they have some of the best wines in the World. Don't worry... they also have budget flights that won't break the bank the though.

As you can imagine... the wine cellar is downstairs from the casino floor.

They also have a flare bar at the back of the casino floor where they do the masquerade in the sky show. The bartenders do tricks and it's a pretty fun time to sit there and hang out.

We like the Mexican Restaurant at the Palms.

No matter where you eat, I would suggest since you are already there, to check out the Palms with a quick walk through the Gold Coast.

I'm a little surprised ktica did not mention Ping Pang Pong at the Gold Coast, I think it is the best Chinese I've ever had.

Note that it does get very busy, I think every Asian in LV must know about the place.
