Please Help with Rec. On hotel& Location!

Good morning TA!

I'm going to Vegas for the wkend of Thanksgiving with my mom and my son (10) I'm not much of a gambler so me and son will be dung other things while my mom plays in the casino.

1. What is the best location on the strip? Is that where the Paris is? I was wondering why it's so expensive compared to the others (ie Venetian )

2. Ideas on best hotel (looking for beautiful room with view) and a hotel with casino and things to do.

Thinking the 4 seasons (no casino), Paris ( expensive in comparison) ceasars (rooms look dated and bla) PH towers (love but no casino)

Is the Venetian a good choice and is it too far from the middle of the strip. My mom can't walk that much as she has arthritis.

Thanks everyone,

Yesi

Yes, Paris has a great location. But it's not normally more expensive than the Venetian. Rates vary greatly from day to day. If Paris has a conference or something, rates will skyrocket.

The Venetian is a great choice if it falls into your budget. Big rooms, fast food options for the kid. The location is fine. Near a mall.

If you Mom has trouble walking, get her a scooter. It will make life so much easier for her (and you.) No matter where you stay there are long walks in Vegas.

If you love PH Towers don't write it off for lack of casino. The casino is just down the hall.

I would suggest staying at one of the hotels with a monorail to help your Mom get around. It's a convenient way to get from casino/ location to another. I'm aware of four different Monorail tracks. I'm pretty sure these are the stops.

1. MGM, Bally's, Flamingo, Imperial Palace, Convention Center, Hilton, Sahara

2. Excalibur, Luxor, & Mandalay Bay

3. Mirage to Treasure Island

4. Bellagio, City Center, Monte Carlo

As far a hotel and location it's totally preference. With a child I would probably stay away form the Bellagio & Ceasar's Palace.

Maybe this will help narrow down your search!

I also agree with renting the scooter for your mom. Any of the hotels have a lot of walking just to go from your room to the casino.

My opinion about the hotels are Paris is great, easy access to the strip/sidewalk. Caesars it is a long walk from any of the rooms to the casino, but they have the Forum Shops for a distraction. Planet Hollywood has the Miracle Mile shops for a distraction. I would NOT use the monorail, since that has a lot of walking just to get to the monorail stations.

What're your exact dates? I just checked on harrahs.com, and for Wednesday to Sunday - the prices are all over the place.

Thanks Everybody!

Really appreciate it!

We are flying from S. California arriving Thursday (Thanksgiving) morning, Leaving Sunday evening.

The scooter idea is great (if I can get her to agree to use it!) LOL she can walk for 10 minutes or so no problem, but if we want to wonder out for a long time, she'll need to sit and take a rest. (she's been exercising which has help a lot in her endurance) but she's going to think the scooter will make her look silly... LOL

But I love the idea!

We had previously stayed at the Paris and was lucky to get a room with an AMAZING VIEW OF THE BELAGIO FOUNTAIN from our room! ... But I called and they said that even if you get a room "WITH A VIEW" They don't guarranty it will be the strip view (it could be mountain view or something like that)

I loved the 4 seasons (rates from $199 per night!!!! ) amazing! but no Casino! I don't really gamble (not because I don't like it! ... because I ALWAYS LOOSE! LOL ... and Im a foodie, so I rather spend that $$ on an amazing Vegas Dinner!

My sister stayed at the PH towers, and said it was amazing, but its not on the strip... I wonder how far you have to walk from PH Towers to the strip??

**Thanks again, sorry for the long post**

Any other comments, please keep them comming... I must book by this wkend as im afraid they prices will go up as the date gets closer.

Re: Kathy, yes! prices are all over the place!

the Paris is actually more expensive than the Venetian... and the Four Seasons (although i can't book... because no casino) is only $199 per night!!

So many choices... its hard to decide. :)

The problem with Four Seasons is that it was way south on the strip and not in a good location for someone like your mother with mobility issues.

Venetian/Palazzo would be a much better choice, either that or if you want to overlook the Bellagio fountains book a lakeview room at the Bellagio.

Renting a mobility scooter for your mom is an excellent idea. The concierge at your hotel can take care of that for you if you call them in advance. It can be there waiting for her when you check into your hotel.
