Tell me about the City Center

Although I have been to Vegas many times I haven't been since the City Center opened. I know I want to gamble at Cosmopolitan but what else shouldn't I miss there? Also what is Chrystal? Thanks.

Crystals is a shoping mall:

Personally I give the whole place a miss but that might be just me. If you look back a page or two you can find a long discussion about City Center.

Cosmopolitan isn't part of CityCenter.

Of all the things for the casual visitor to check out at CityCenter, most are at Aria. It has the only casino there and some pretty nice restaurants. Julian Serrano is a great tapas place. There's also Jean Philippe Patisserie which you may know from Bellagio. The buffet isn't too bad and just outside of Aria, Todd English's P.U.B. is a cool place for a beer and and a casual bite.

If you want a cocktail in luxurious surroundings with a great view then Mandarin Bar at Mandarin Oriental is a good choice. Also at MO, Twist has had great reviews if you're looking for a fine dining experience.

As long as you are going to CCenter, you may as well check out all the buildings. Aria for the gambling and some nice restaurants, Vdara (attached to the Bellagio by a hallway) because it is super- cool IMHO, Mandarin Oriental (beside the lounge it also offers afternoon tea) and Crystals. Crystals is the upscale- but usually rather empty -shopping mall. There are two rather lame "attractions" in it- the "tornado" pillars that change colors and ice pillars that are change shape because of the constantly melting ice that then build up again.

There are art objects scattered through the complex. You can get a map of them at the concierge desk at the Aira. There are also two nice art galleries between Aria and MO- the Chihuly Gallery and the MacDonald Gallery.

Although not part of CCenter, the Cosmo is connected to it by a walkway. Be sure to explore all 3 floors of one tower and the second floor of the other tower. Walk down any hallway, turn any corner and you will find something interesting to see/do: 9' stiletto heels, foosball, min-art vending machines, hidden pizza joint, huge dog statues, art studio, pillars that are constantly changing, pillars that give flight info, pool tables, various stuatues/photos/paintings and the Chandelier Bar that spans three floors.

CityCenter is huge and boring.

The casino in Aria is okay, big with a a wide range of everything. Crystals is full of grossly expensive shops and seems to me mostly just acts as a fancy walkway betwen Cosmo and Aria. Unless you're looking for diamond jewelry or overpriced handbags it's a waste of space.

Todd English is quite good, but a bit overpriced (as with most everything in CC).

Cosmo is awesome though, but not at all part of CityCenter despite what the signs they've stuck up around the entrances say ;)

I love walking through Aria, especially back to the baccarat area. The buffet is pretty good too.

I have never seen one person in Crystals. I thought it was closed the first time I walked through it.

I suggest starting at MO and walking through Crystals, Aria, Vdara and then Cosmo, take your time and just enjoy how massive it is.
