Are any reasonably priced hotels decent?

I have been checking prices for all of the hotels on the strip. Every reasonably priced hotel is described as very old and worn. Are any of them decent or should I just expect to pay $200+ to stay someplace clean and in good shape?

We will be going for two nights midweek later this month.

Thanks!

Can you give the specific dates you are going? the Monte Carlo has fine rooms and they are running a promotion right now: www.montecarlo.com/spring

The Aladdin also has cheap rooms right now ($49) due to the construction in the casino, if you search Aladdin you will find the link for that. I have not paid more than $89 at Treasure Island midweek, so it is also an option providing there are no conventions going on. The Luxor I have heard has fine rooms but it's location isn't as good as the others I mentioned.

It really depends on what you want out of your stay. I am never in my room very much, so it is never a big deal to me. I wouldn't spend $200 on a room.

Maybe I have chosen a bad week, but it's the week the grandparents can babysit. We would be going sometime during the week of March 20.

Aladdin and Treasure Island are coming in at $300. Monte Carlo is $130.

Hotels under $100 are Tropicana, Circus Circus, and Stratosphere.

Low one hundreds are Harrah's, Flamingo and Monte Carlo.

Pretty much everything else is coming up over $200 or booked.

I don't know if something major is going on that week or if I am doing something wrong. Is there a way to get AAA discounts or any other kind of discount?

Monte Carlo is good for the price you mentioned if you want to stay on strip. Have you looked at Bally's? Avoid Circus Circus at all costs. If you are willing to go off strip, try the Orleans, Boulder Highway (Sam's Town or Boulder Station) or Downtown. You should get better rates there.

we are going the week of the 20th ... excalibur had really good rates so we booked there ... i'm not sure what type of hotel you want but this one has kids (not a problem for us though)

Excalibur is going to be the best priced hotel on the strip in contrast to location and cleanliness. The rooms are average, but clean, and the pool is great...it is not five star but WAY better than the Stratosphere, Circus Circus, or Sahara...

I stay there all the time. The money I save I just use to have more fun while I am there!!

They are also having a sale right now on their website!

Expect to pay! It's spring break, March Madness, etc. You had to book at least a month ago to get really good rates.

Bad time to go, what with March Madness. I would go with Monte Carlo in the low 100s, of those you listed.

Check Barbary Coast as well- right on the Strip next to Bally's , recently refurbished rooms, and usually more reasonable in price than those you are looking at- it doesn't have a pool - in case that's important- and does tend to fill up quickly- but that would be my choice.

Ugh, the whole March Madness thing didn't occur to me. Now I understand why I am getting such high rates compared to what other people have been quoting.

I will check a few more locations that have been suggested.

Thanks to all!
