Bally's is mid-strip, connected to Paris by a short, indoor mall. Very convenient to walk the Strip north/south. South Tower rooms are a little dated, but large.

Rio is west of the Strip, not walking distance. You can either take the free shuttle to/from the Strip or rent a car. I can't recall exactly, but the shuttle stops running around 1am I believe. Rooms are "suites" -- really just large rooms with floor to ceiling windows.

I've staid at Bally's three times this year and would pick it first.

Rio is the better hotel but is off strip and the money you save in hotel costs would go on taxi fare to the strip.

Ballys is fine and in a nice location on strip.

As has been suggested, location is the key issue here. I would personally choose Rio in a heartbeat as I like the property a lot, but being on the Strip isn't such a huge deal for me as I always have a car in Vegas and can deal with using the shuttle or cabs if necessary. But if you need or want to be on the Strip, choose Bally's.

I agree that location matters. Stayed at both Bally's is a great location, not as nice as Rio but not terrible by any stretch of the imagination.

Rio is just a shuttle ride to the strip which comes every 30 minutes so that isn't a big deal.

I am just a fan of being able to walk everywhere I want to go and avoid taxis, buses, shuttles and such.

Rio is the far superior property with better Restaurants, better rooms, better pool grounds, better everyday buffet and more things to do But, its off the strip.

If you have never been to Vegas before (or only a few times) I would choose a hotel on the strip rather than off strip. The walk to the strip from the Rio is not a pleasant one and if you don't have a car you will have to rely on shuttles (which can be a pain after a while) or bus or keep taking cabs.

Bally's is your better choice for LOCATION.

RIO is by the Palms. And IMHO has the tightest slots in Vegas.

Location, location, location. Bally's would be my choice. It is not the newest property, but I really enjoyed my stay there. I am planning one night there again on my March trip.

My choice would be bally's for the location, Rio for the rooms. I also prefer the casino floor at Ballys over that of the Rio.

Bally for the location which is on the Strip. I have not stayed there, have eaten at few places there and did had my nails done at the Salon there. Think the Salon is now closed. You want to be on the Strip. Enjoy
