Vegas over Christmas TR!

Hello Vegas peeps!

Oxy and I were VERY happy to have been able to spend Christmas in Las Vegas! A little background... We flew into Denver from Toronto on December 21 to spend time with my family, who I hadn't since late February, we spend a few days there before heading to Vegas. Denver was awesome we actually had a white Christmas! My parents live in the foothills and got 2 feet of snow the night we arrive (luckily we got in before the storm). I enjoyed time with my mommy!!! :) We shopped and of course enjoyed mom's home cookin!! ;)

Here are some pics!!

We flew in to Denver using Delta, WOW they need some work... very disorganized boarding and while I'm thankful I got my bags, it took them 1.5 hours to get our flight our bags at baggage claim, no reason why.. they just are crappy... never again...

Denver we ate at the Fort, in in Morrison Colorado, I'll post a review on TA, but WOW!!! :) Oxy had the Rocky Mountain Oysters (think about it... lol).

Anyways, flying to Las Vegas, we used Southwest, they got us in a bit early AND we got a free cocktail!! YAY!

We got our rental from Alamo, we booked a mid sized, got up graded to a standard. We picked a white Dodge, meh, it was ok, nothing special, but heck the price was right and we had no issues! I was surprised how packed the rental center was though, thank goodness we can use the kiosk and we got our car in less than 5 minutes of arriving.

We went to my bff's Jenn house for supper (we weren't hungry one bit though) and to hang out a bit!! It was awesome to see her again! Later we headed to our hotel, the Golden Nugget! :)

We booked the Rush Tower, upon check in, there was no line, the guy behind the counter seemed like he didn't want to be bothered. He offered us an upgrade to a Rush Tower Jr. Suite for $25 a night.. No thanks, we are happy in the regular room at the price we paid... thats no deal! We got room 8-222, right off the elevators. It had a partial strip view and was very nice. What did bother me was that one of the sink had a sewer smell, just one though.. so we just used the other.. it's odd though, since it is such a new tower.

Downtown on Christmas was pretty busy, but lovely! The Gn had some Christmas decorations up, including a somewhat creepy golden Santa Claus by the pool/ Carson St. Cafe. It was big, gold and I swear his eyes followed you as you walked by...lolz

After toasting in our room with a bottle of cheap sparking wine...

Oxy and I hit up Fremont, heck I admit, that first night we were losing hand over fist... we played all over bouncing around to different casinos.

Now we had worded up a bit of an appetite. We went to the Plaza to try out Oscars.. I was pretty apprehensive, everything the Plaza has done has been done cheaply and over hyped... Oscars was VERY nice!! It looked nothing like the Ol Fire Fly did. It was really beautiful in there! They really polished things til it shined and the staff was super. We sat at the bar for cocktails and an app. I ordered an apricot drink (Red light district) and Oxy (Goodmans Legacy)ordered a champagne type. We split a meat and cheese tray(The Downtowner). I really liked the salami and one kind of cheese that tasted like whipped cream! It was a bit pricey for downtown, but we left satisfied and eager to go back (and we did!).

The staff there was awesome, they were happy to take care of us and were knowledgeable about the menu. They said they got to sample the menu and told us a bit about the food and drink options. Our waitress (Rory or Tori), was the one who took care of us, I sometimes find it hard to receive such good service anymore, I hope she stick around there! :)

After leaving there we were happy int he belly and a bit tipsy! So off to play some more! Gambling was brutal!! But cocktail service was awesome!!! It was nice to see so many new games, last trip in September there were lots new and this time, WOW!! I was a bit disappointed the Plaza got rid of the bulk of the 3 reel .25 slots. I really liked playing those and they had been replaced with the newer video styles. Lots of them were repeats too :(

I also want to add the Plaza looks better now, they finally finished the 2nd level and this time there was no dripping ceilings. They also opened Gigi's cupcakes, but the food court still only had Subways open and a new gift shop. The perfume smell was just as strong but it looks like they are maintaining the "new casino smell".

More comin up in a bit!

Day 2, woke up with a KILLER migraine. Oh my, I thought I was gunna die... I couldn't get out of bed, I tried to get motivated, but just couldn't. My head was pounding and the tiny bit of light coming in the room was piercing my eyeballs..

Oxy was starving, so he went and got some food. I stayed in a bed a bit, and eventually got in a shower and tried to make myself get going. He was sweet enough to bring me back toast and we headed out. We went to check out the GN beofre heading to the strip.. this is when we played Tarzan, now I was bitter about Tarzan... well not against The apeman, so much, but where they put Tarzan in the GN is where they USED to have my fav Nickelodeon game (sigh). Oxy and I both slip in a $20... Suddenly... Oxy's same starts screaming my name (Literally!!! ) I hear "Pooka , Pooka! Pooka Pooka!!!" LMAO!!! He had gotten the bonus, and it chants Pooka pooka!!! HA!!! ;)

Oxy spins I think 5 times before getting the free spins bonus (which ends the big wheel bonus). I also get the bonus at the same time!! Woot woot!! Winning!!! :) We cash out up!! Time to hit the strip!

On the way oxy asks if I am hungry... yea!! We stop in at Tiffanys at Blue cross Drugs. We order their soup and sandwich special. The soup was split pea, it was super thick and grubbin!! The grilled cheese was ok (heck it was a grilled cheese). The soup really hit the spot and I was feeling a bit better. We valeted at the Flaming-o and headed to meet his parents (who came in the night before) at Bills Gambin hall. They stayed there comp'd. We saw their room, it was pretty darn nice and it had a wonderful strip view facing right at the Bellagio fountains and Ballys! :) Bills rooms look pretty good, a bit worn but it looked clean.. heck the price was right! ;)

We headed to the b to check out the conservatory, it was beautiful as usual. I really liked the big tree! It was packed though, honestly people were a bit pushy and we left pretty quick. We headed back to Bills and parted ways. We did however check out the Margaritaville Casino, it's small, but fun! We got asked for a drink right away too.

We headed back downtown as we were to meet up with steph124ny and her kiddos for supper :)

We got back downtown and oxy's mom wanted to play a bit .. she had great luck last time at the 4 Queens, not this time though.. we were all losing here and there downtown. The one game they did do well on was at the 4 Queens .. Dazzling dollars! It has a cool bonus, kinda like top dollar but you can get more attempts at more $.

We met up with Steph and kiddos at the Flame, but sadly they were booked up (should made rezzies!!!) So we went to the Cal to try the Redwood, same thing... (sigh).. But hey.. my ol hidden gem is right around the corner.... Tinocos Kitchen!! We get there and no wait.. in fact we were the only ones there!! lol!! Dinner was fabulous!! They took great care of us and the meal was simply delicious!! I know it's in the LVC, but the food is awesome there!! I had the Bolognese, mmmmmmm :) I'll be back!

It was awesome to meet Steph and her kids, they told us about the Vegas adventures and what all they had plans for (including the rides at the Strat!!). I love meeting TA peeps!!! Heck I know Steph from FB too, but it's nice to meet people in person:)

After supper We parted ways, Oxy drive his parents back to Bills, I went to the Golden Gate... then it happened... My hands turned to GOLD!! :)

Everything I played I won at least a bit on!! They had a game called Valient Knight.. it was like my personal ATM machine!! lol!!!I hit a bonus and managed 25 spins and they thing was rocking and rolling! Woo hoo!! I played my ol fav a 9 line Cleopatra machine, got the bonus and Gloria my fav CW was coming around often!!! Bill came back and I was grinning, he knew I was winning! We decided to move around a bit, so we went to the LVC, tried Ghost Busters... another ATm for me, I learned that machines likes a bit of an increased bet to hit the bonus rounds, Oxy wanted to play but 1 of the 2 was broken :( So he watched me win and sipped drinks.. The CW there was coming around fast and we were tipping .. so we coulda double fisted it , if we wanted too! ;) Ghost busters was a lot fo fun I LOVED the poppenfresh bonus with the flaming falling marshmellows. We played all over and eventually were getting tired. Headed back to the GN.. but we HAD to walk past the ol WOZ, sad down and I got the Flying monkey bonus!!! Yay!!! I dunno how many monkey came out.. but it was the most I had ever had!! TONS of wilds and a VERY happy Pookie!!!!

After that, it was bed time.. but even though I was tired I was wondering if I should go to bed... I didn't want my winning streak to end!!!

More TR tomorrow... Thanks for reading! :)
